The gate closed as quickly as it opened, and I caught only a fleeting glimpse of Anna running away. For a second, my body reacted before my mind did, I almost went after her. Almost called her name.
But I stopped myself.
What was I thinking? What exactly would I say to her?
I’m sorry you saw my girlfriend kissing me?
That sounded ridiculous, even in my own head.
I stepped away from Isabella and dropped into my chair, barely registering the words coming out of her mouth. My thoughts were too loud. Too chaotic.
I hated the look on Anna’s face.

She was my employee. Of course she was embarrassed. Anyone would be, walking in on something like that. That was it. That had to be it.
