"What's happening here," I said, breaking into their conversation. Both the ladies turned toward me but my eyes were fixed on Anna. She was still wearing the same clothes from the morning but now they were now ruined with paint.
Her hair was messy and her cheek flushed. She looked hot and sophisticated in the morning, but now she looks adorably cute and, unfortunately, it was an even bigger turn-on for me.
"Sir, Good Evening. I was just coming to you", Elsa said in her voice slightly different from her routine professional voice.
"Wait for me in the office", I instructed, and Elsa left with a nod.
Anna was standing there looking around, nervously rubbing her hands together, trying to wipe off the paint.
"Did you fall into the paint bucket yourself?" I asked, looking at her closely now.
"Oh, no it was just a game I was playing with Liam and it got a little messy," she said, still not making eye contact. I couldn't help imagining some dirty, messy game I wanted to play with her.
I took a deep sigh, calming my wild thoughts and said, "Kitchen is toward the right corner"
"Okay, thanks," she said, sliding toward the side exit.
"Wait, I heard what you said to Elsa before". She had her back toward me and now tilted her head toward me, so I continued, "It's amazing that you love your job and are proud of it."
She gave me a million-dollar smile and left, but I stood there for a minute just replaying that beautiful smile in my mind. It was like sunshine in a cold winter, just amazing.
Now I had a smile on my face, but as soon as I entered the office and saw a pile of work, it immediately faded. I love working but lately, with the company growing at a very fast pace, the work never seems to stop. It will be another late night I guess.
Elsa was sitting there busy with her work on her computer, so I sat in my chair and started working. She looked up at me once but then got back to her and we quietly worked for hours. I know she is very efficient and in just 6 months she has proved many times that my decision to hire her was correct.
I had already fired around 20 secretaries because they couldn't handle the workload, but I didn't have any plan for making that number go any further.
Initially, she seemed to have a crush on me, but I wasn't particularly attracted to her and when she tried to get close I cleared that I have a strict rule against dating the employees. She backed off and I was glad to clear the misunderstanding.
It was around 10 pm when Elsa got up to leave and I was also done for the day, so I called a taxi for her and showed her off to the gate.
After that, I went straight to Liam's room, and the scene there was, what should I say, unexpected? Liam was deep in sleep, snuggling against Anna, who was also now sleeping, still holding a storybook in her hand.
I took the book away and covered both of them with a blanket. They looked so peaceful and beautiful, but it was not acceptable. I didn't want Liam to get too attached and he also needed to be disciplined.
I couldn't wake her up now, but I will definitely talk to her tomorrow. With that thought, I left the room.
NEXT MORNING
I was having my breakfast when Liam came running into the room and behind her came running and shouting his name" Liam slow down"
Liam stopped as he saw me and sat on the chair silently. Anna entered the room breathing heavily. I tried not to look, but my eyes seemed to have a mind of their own. Today she was wearing a pink floral dress that came up to her knees and her wavy hair flying down on her shoulders.
My eyes slowly moved upward and looked at her face. She was looking at me with raised eyebrows. I was busted. She caught me checking her out.
Clearing my throat, I shifted my attention to Liam, "I see you no longer have a problem having a nanny. Do you?"
"No, no, please let her stay" he pleaded, using his big puppy eyes.
"Ok, but I haven't forgotten your behaviour yesterday, so no television for today."
"Huh, So Anna stays," he asks hopefully, and as I nodded he jumped and hugged me.
"OK, now you eat breakfast while I talk to Ms. Steele," I said, looking at her, and started walking toward the office as she quietly followed me.
We sat on the sofa that was in the side corner of the room instead of the center desk. I couldn't help but notice that her dress moved slightly upward, displaying her silky thighs fully. If for anyone else, I would have definitely considered these tricks to get my attention, but the confused expression on her face clearly showed that she had no idea of the effect she has on me.
I handed her the papers, "This is the schedule for Liam and also the list of things you need to teach him in the prescribed time and give me a daily report. Also, I further expect you not to sleep in Liam's room."
A blush crept into her cheeks going down to her neck with embarrassment, "Sorry that was by mistake. I didn't realize it when I slept"
She looked down immediately and studied the paper for a good 5 minutes, then looked up. It seemed like she was trying to control her laughter. That infuriated me. "What is funny about this, please share with me."
"You can't be serious about this, he is a 3-year-old child not a prisoner of jail."
"Ms. Steele, all members of our family learned all these things at an early stage and so will Liam. If you don't think that you are capable of following simple instructions, you are free to leave," I said seriously. Liam was Walton and he is the future heir, he has to learn all his skills.
"OK, since you are the boss, but I have one condition," she said, looking up with determination.
"You know that you are in no position to put forward conditions?" I said sternly, but she kept a polite smile and somehow I was already wanting to hear her condition. I was more amused by her now. She has so many sides to her personality that it's like meeting a new person every day.
"But I still have one, remove the time limit. He will learn at his own pace. Please don't make him part of this rat race at such a young age. Let him learn because he is curious about things, not because he has to fit in the world."
"OK, since you make a plausible argument, I will agree to it. You can leave now."
She got up to leave but as she reached the gate she turned around.
"I have just one question."
"Ask, Ms. Steele"
"How am I supposed to give you the daily report? I mean will you be here every day? I mean, of course you can. It's your house, I just.." she blabbered.
How can she be so confident a moment before and so nervous at the next is out of my mind.
"Ms. Steele, No I don't live here, I come on weekends and you will be reporting me on my phone number, anything else?"
"No" she barely said as she almost ran out of the office.
I couldn't help but smile, she was definitely different, she was something.
I can't figure her out, but I will very soon.
