“Anna, you f*****g b***h!”
Isabella’s voice ripped through the air like a blade.
I jerked violently, my body reacting before my mind could catch up. In my panic, I rolled off the bed and hit the floor with a loud thud, my back slamming hard against it.
A sharp pain shot through my spine, forcing a gasp out of me.
“Ah—”
I winced, my eyes squeezing shut as the sting spread across my body. For a few seconds, I couldn’t move. The pain held me there, grounding me in something real, something solid.
Slowly, as it began to subside, I opened my eyes.
Silence.
The room was still.
I blinked, my breath uneven as I pushed myself up on my elbows and looked around.
