RHYS The morning air clung to me, thin and cold, as I stepped out, leaving Clara behind in the dim glow of the chamber. Her scent and touch lingered on me–warmth and comfort I didn't deserve. I had told her to stay and not follow me. Not because I doubted her courage, but some roads weren't meant for her feet. Not yet. My nightmares had returned, a bit clearer this time. It tore through me until I awoke, throat dry and trembling hands. Clara had seen me broken. I hated that. And yet, when she whispered “You are safe. With me.”, something inside me cracked open. That was why I was heading to the priestess. I needed answers, guidance. Anything that will silence the voices of the dead and the screams of the past.
