The heavy metal door of the Sunnyvale warehouse rattled loudly as it rolled up. Quinn Harper walked inside. She was holding a thick, cream-colored envelope in her right hand. She did not walk to her desk. She walked straight toward the U-shaped command center where Grayson Knight and Toby Miller were reviewing the Apex Financial daily ledger. "I have a variable," Quinn announced, dropping the heavy envelope directly onto the oak desk in front of Grayson. Toby looked at the envelope. "That is incredibly expensive paper. Did someone invite us to a gala?" "It is an offer of employment," Quinn said, crossing her arms. "It was delivered by a private courier to the front desk of Meridian Systems an hour ago. Addressed directly to me." Grayson did not touch the envelope. He looked at Quinn.
