Chapter Three

1070 Words
Anna. I slowly but carefully went through all the files and folders in my computer but true to his words, i could not locate the New Jersey file that held everything i had been working on for over three months now. But i left it there am so sure of it, so i have no clue how a perfectly saved file can disappear into thin air. "Something is not right," i say looking up at Asher, "It has to be somewhere around here am sure of it." i said as i tried once again to go through the computer, maybe i missed it the past five times i have done that. It was clear as day, it wasn't in there i was just wasting my time. After a few minutes i finally stopped searching and pulled my chair backwards as i stood up suddenly feeling dizzy. Asher who was leaning against my chair to peer over my shoulder as i looked for the file walked to the other side of the office his arms folded over his chest. "Asher," i say looking up at him, he seemed to be in deep thought. "I have no idea what happened. I promise when i left it was here somewhere." i say not even sure of myself anymore. He slowly walked towards me, making my whole body nervous, he came to a halt a couple of inches away from me, "That was your account Anna, if you don't have it no one else has. And we are supposed to present it in two weeks time. You know how important that account is." he said calmly still avoiding eye contact. For several minutes i just stared at him not knowing what to say or how to react. I had thoroughly searched my computer and for sure the account was nowhere to be seen. I did not know what to do or even say to him anymore. One day ago when i cleaned out my desk, i was sure to leave all the company stuff, from computers, Keys, hard drives even my key card. I knew the company policy i was supposed to hand over all materials belonging to Dreamscape back before i left, and i did that. I had not broken any rules but somehow i could also not explain a missing account that mysteriously went missing after i quit. I had given the new CEO Asher Adams my home number incase he had any questions, but i hadn't expected him to have some so soon. So when i received a call from him that he couldn't locate the files for New Jersey account anywhere on my computer or my office, out of instinct i immediately raced down there to show him where it was. I thought he just wanted to see me and was using that as an excuse it didn't occur to me that the file would actually be missing, literally. I drove there under ten minutes since i lived on the same block. It was a Saturday so i didn't bother to change i just went in with my lounge wear, after all i no longer worked there anyway. "Asher, i don't know what to tell you. This has never happened before. I have never lost important company information and you know that." i finally said. "But you have never had the need to before Anna, but right now you do. Maybe you wanted to make things a little bit harder for me, make my job harder because i got it and not you." he said with zero expression in his face. He straightened to his full length and now put his hands in his pockets while still holding my gaze. I could see his muscles, on the outline of his blue t shirt that clung to his biceps. I swallowed a lump in my throat. He was wearing it with some black sweat pants and looked like he was just coming from the gym. His sweat pants clearly showed his huge d**k print which i tried my best to avoid staring at. This man was strikingly handsome. I knew he was handsome but i had never taken the time or even stood close enough to really look at him. I was so used to seeing him in suits and he always looked good but i was wrong, this man looked good in everything, especially in sweat pants. I gulped down a deep breath, trying to ease the furious beating of my heart. Him being so close to me threw me off my game a little bit. Get a grip Anna. I whispered to myself. "Anna we meet with the owners of the account in two weeks, we can't show up empty handed." he said. "Well that's your problem Asher, i don't work for you anymore and am going home." i said walking towards the door. His eyes flashed with surprise at my words, it was like he wasn't expecting me to say that. But i was going home. I don't care if they tanked the account. I had given far too much to this company. " Anna, you told me if i had any questions to call you, remember?" "And you called Asher, and i have answered your questions." i say shrugging my shoulders as i folded my arms. "I don't know what happened to the account it was here when i left. So now i would like to go home." i watched Asher's eyes narrows at me, he suddenly changed his whole aura and he looked furious. "Am telling you that i need your help tracing that account Anna." he said with gritted teeth. I immediately stiffened at the simmering fury in his eyes. But he wasn't going to boss me around, i won't let him. "Well you are the CEO now, figure it out and leave me out of it." i snapped back, my tone full of sarcasm. "Anna i already told you i had nothing to do with that." he said gently with a wounded expression making me feel bad for being a b***h to him. "I am sorry." i whispered slowly almost embarrassed I was acting like a child. "I just need the account and you can be on your way." he said in a low tone. "i won't bother you again am sure you don't want to come back here again." he said looking around.
