They had moved into a small, cramped apartment in the high end parts of New York city and even this little apartment was enough to make a dent in Fiona’s savings.
The Soiree was tonight and Shaira had been awake since the c***k of dawn, too nervous to sleep for very long, thankfully, she hadn’t gotten any nightmares.
Preparations for tonight had been going on all day and Shaira was just getting to be alone for the first time all day.
The Soiree didn't begin till 7pm so she had ample time to get ready, currently, she was busy reading through the backgrounds of important people that she would possibly meet.
Her mom had to pull a lot of strings to get her an invitation to the exclusive party, she couldn't risk blowing her cover.
Her hair was covered in rollers, ready to be styled.
Her dress was ready, an elegant, backless black dress that had a high slit up the left side of her leg.
But for now, she had to commit a lot of faces and names to memory, she had her eye on a couple rich bachelors the information provided.
She planned to throw her net far and wide because she couldn't risk failure.
"Shaira?" Her mom peeked her head into the room. "It's time to style your hair…"
For the next couple hours, Shaira sat still in one position while her mom and Lucy hurried around fixing her hair and makeup and getting her ready.
The sun slowly set, darkness creeping in and after too many touch ups later, Fiona pronounced her daughter ready.
Shaira walked over to the floor length mirror to take a look at herself and gasped softly at the transformation.
Her mother was a real beauty and although she couldn't hold a candle to her, she wasn't bad off either, her face was above average with a curvy body as a redeeming quality.
She understood what Cinderella must have felt like now, this was supposed to be her life but it was taken away from her as a child.
The image staring back at her in the mirror was that of a stunning woman, with glittering black stilettos on her feet, she was ready.
Her golden curls were parted to one side, draping over her shoulders lusciously.
She wore a single teardrop diamond necklace, the gem dipping into the curve of her rounded boobs with similar teardrop diamond earrings to match.
The look of the night was silver and black, the peak of elegance and all of her jewelry were matching, even the delicate bracelet on her left wrist and the ring she wore.
Her makeup highlighted her beautiful sea green eyes and full lips, she would have to be careful so she didn't distract already married men.
Fiona covered her mouth in pleasant surprise, her eyes tearing up slightly. "Oh, you're absolutely gorgeous, Aira." She said with emotion.
"Indeed, Little Miss, you are bound to steal the show." Lucy agreed, bobbing her head before leaving the room.
"Quick, you can't be too early to leave a statement but you must not be late either or all the good ones will be taken." Fiona said, hurrying around to prepare what she would take with her.
"Your ride is here, Little Miss." Lucy bounced back into the room to say.
A silver limousine had been hired to take her to the mansion where the Soiree was being held, she might be fishing for a rich husband but that didn't mean she wouldn't be classy while doing it.
She took her bag from her mother and gave her a quick hug. "Don't worry mom, I'll be fine and I know exactly what to do." She reassured her mother one last time.
The chauffeur opened the door of the limousine and helped Shaira in, they could only afford to hire a limousine to take her there so she would either have to come back in some billionaire's expensive ride or order an uber.
She already knew which it was going to be.
As soon as the door to the limo closed she straightened up her spine, a devious little smile playing on her lips
Her mother still thought of her as her little girl but Shaira wasn't that anymore, she was a grown woman who was about to seize control of her own life and take back what belonged to her.
The limo drove smoothly to her destination, the Soiree was to be held at one of Christopher Hayes' many grand mansions.
The multibillionaire would have been a perfect candidate for Shaira's mission if he wasn't already a grandfather.
There were lots of other bachelors who would do just fine though and that was enough.
The chauffeur was stopped at the high gates which led to the mansion and the guards positioned requested to see an invite.
Shaira had already handed the invitation to the chauffeur beforehand so they were smoothly guided in, the chauffeur let himself be directed by one of the many valets littered across the sprawling and lavish gardens.
He would leave soon but that was after she was long gone and his presence couldn’t be traced to her, image was the most important thing to these people.
The chauffeur was nice enough to help her out of the limo after it was parked, she smiled at him, it was clear that he was smitten by her and while he was easy on the eyes, he wasn’t what she was looking for.
After stepping out into the open, she finally got a clear view of just how magnificent the mansion was.
Glass fountains were positioned in different places in the garden and Shaira didn’t have to attend the parties regularly to guess that when it started to get late, men and women alike would sneak out together to flirt and f**k in the darkened areas of the garden after getting drunk on expensive alcohol.
She might be one of those people as well if it would help her achieve her purpose so she wasn’t about to play judge.
