Outside the closed door, Shaira was in the middle of trying to comfort her mom who was about to have a panic attack.
Lucy was also on the phone. “Ma’am I told you that Shaira would be just fine, she can take care of herself you know.”
“Thank you Lucy!” Shaira appreciated her nanny’s support, she felt guilty for worrying her mother but she also wished her mother would have more faith in her.
“I’ll tell you everything when I come back home, I have to leave now.” She added, the last thing she needed was Zavier getting curious and coming to eavesdrop on her at the wrong moment.
“And when would that be?” Fiona said petulantly, although the whole thing had been her plan, she wasn’t ready to experience how difficult it would be for her to take the absence of her only child.
“I’ll get home when I do, mom.” Shaira said dryly.
Her mom wasn’t impressed by her response though. “But Aira….”
“Bye mom.” She interrupted timidly. “Take care of her please, Lucy.” She tagged on, hanging up before her mom found some reason to extend the conversation.
She had been outside for far too long, sighing, she pushed open the door back to the kitchen.
She was pretty sure that they had passed a grand dining room while they had come in last night but there was a cozy makeshift dining room here too.
Zavier looked up when she came back in, noone should be able to look that good in just an oversized dress and bed hair.
“That was my mom.” Shaira found herself saying as she came closer, she had no reason to explain herself but she couldn’t ignore the loud question in Zavier’s eyes.
The tension bled out of Zavier’’s shoulders at this, he had not even realized how much he had been bothered by it, not till she put his fears to rest.
“I’m all grown up now but she still sees me as her little baby.”
Zavier pulled her closer and down on his legs before she could sit down. “I don’t say I blame her.”
Shaira smiled shyly at this.
It was sunday but Shaira long knew for a fact that the rich did not have a fixed work schedule, considering they owned their own jobs.
“Don’t you have business to attend to?” She asked coyly when Zavier stared at her eyes again for far too long.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful your eyes are?” He asked quietly, pushing strands of her hair out of her face.
Shaira had to fight to not blush madly. “That wasn’t what I asked.”
“I’m already attending to my business.” He answered smoothly. “What do you want to do today?”
Shaira blinked in surprise, she had been expecting Zavier to get rid of her or something similar.
She had not expected things to go this way at all, she thought that the gesture of cooking breakfast for her was just him being nice.
The thing was, while Zavier wasn’t a playboy according to the information that her research gave her, it was so hard to get his attention that she would have been better off going for a playboy.
But somehow she had managed to get his attention without trying, enough to make him give up his whole day just to spend it with her and she wasn’t complaining.
“You could give me that tour you promised.” She reminded him. “Besides, I'm not exactly dressed right for leaving the house.
A dark light came into Zavier’s eyes at her mention of the tour, although she had meant it innocently, he couldn’t help his wandering thoughts.
He wouldn’t do that though because he genuinely wanted to spend some time with her and also, he didn’t want her to think that he only wanted her around for the s*x.
Sure the s*x was good but finding someone so captivating in amd out of the sheets was so rare, he wasn’t about to lose her.
“Then we’ll go shopping first…”
Shaira looked up at him at this, her eyes wide. “You’d go shopping with me?”
A furrow appeared between Zavier’s eyebrows. “You don’t want me to?”
“What? I mean… no, of course I want you to, I’m just pleasantly surprised.” She admitted honestly.
“Great, now let’s go shower.” Zavier suggested, more than a bit enthusiastically, picking Shaira up.
Shaira squealed in surprise which dissolved into giggles, she threw her arms around his neck and leaned upwards to steal a kiss.
“Won’t you get bored from spending the whole day with me?” She asked in a teasing tone but Zavier could tell that she was asking honestly.
“You really need to start giving yourself more credit.” He lightly scolded her.”
They shed their clothes immediately they got into the bedroom, Zavier insisting on carrying her all the way there.
“If you keep this up, I’ll be hopelessly spoiled.” Shaira pointed out.
“Doesn’t sound like a problem to me.” Zavier replied, placing her gently against the cool tile floors like he feared she would break.
Shaira made the first move this time, pulling Zavier down to her, she had not seen any of this coming when she walked into the soiree the night before.
Her mom would be happy because she had been worried that Shaira would be throwing away her chance at love just to restore her family’s name but that seemed unlikely anymore.
Because with every inch of her skin that Zavier every so gently brushed his lips against, she felt even deeper into the web of attraction that he kept spinning around her.
At this rate she would soon fall hopelessly in love with the handsome billionaire, she could only hope that he felt the same towards her.
Falling in love didn’t mean that she had decided to give up on her father’s killers though, she would have to find a way to balance things.
Even true love wasn’t enough to deter her from her mission.
