By the time we return to Wulfhelm, it’s almost midnight. After talking with the teachers, we decide it’s best to evacuate the pups to safety. We bring in the mirror from the Rune Druid’s house and set it up inside Thornfield.
Next, we wake up the pups. They’re still trying to out-human each other, so the pack is sleeping in Thornfield. The pups are in human form and dress, along with their teachers. We gather them before Professor Tallon’s mirror.
Then, it’s time to say good-bye.
Watching the pups step through the mirror, it feels as if my heart’s being torn from my chest. They’re all so trusting and innocent. To them, this is all a big game. My six students are last through the mirror portal. It takes everything in me not to run after them.
