Elise exhales. “You’ve done the right thing.” Grayson slowly pulls the pendant’s chain over her head. Holding the small round mirror in her hands, my vita crosses the room. Every step she takes closer to Elise, my pulse speeds faster. I hate the idea of placing my pack in the hands of anyone, even if that person is Queen of the Harpies. With hesitant movements, Grayson sets the pendant onto Elise’s outstretched palm. “Thank you,” says Elise. She steps over to the mirror and sets the pendant against the reflective surface. The mirror changes. Instead of showing a white haze, the reflective surface now shows the exterior behind Jacoby’s cottage. It’s a lavish garden with multi-colored flowers of every kind. One by one, the pups materialize on the grass. I suck in a shaky breath. Please
