CHAPTER 29
"Wake up, Jamie."
In my dream, someone was whispering in my ear and it was annoying. I rolled over to make it stop.
"Go away," I said, "I'm sleeping. Why are you torturing me?" I pulled the pillow over my face.
Kip laughed. He was kneeling next to the bed, his face a few inches from mine. Freshly-showered, his damp hair smelled like coconut shampoo.
"I thought you might want to see me, Babe, but I can take a hint."
I grudgingly opened one eye. "I do, but it's still dark out. That means it's nighttime."
"Some of us have done a full day's work already, just sayin'." He poked me gently in the ribs.
