I'd been to the Everglades exactly twice: once with Kip and once on a middle-school field trip, both times during the wet season. Lucky me. The Everglades is the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S., just an hour from Miami but a world away. While everyone's been to Disney World, only a fraction of the twenty-one million Floridians have visited the Everglades, let alone know much about it.
