I watch Adriana drive away, unable to stop her.
My cheek still stings from her slap, and I can't help but wonder what set her off that way.
But as I turn to go inside, I see my mother standing by the window, staring at me.
Realization dawns on me suddenly, and my mood drops.
I storm into the house, slamming the door behind me.
"What did you say to Adriana?" I demand. My voice is low, really low, and she looks away from me uneasily.
"What are you talking about?" She asks, feigning ignorance and trying to look innocent.
But I see through her pretense.
"Don't play dumb, mom!" I snap. "You know what you did. What did you tell her?"
The look disappears from her face and she frowns.
"I told her the truth." She says.
My stomach drops. "What f*****g truth?"
