I didn’t look back. Back at the hospital, a doctor cleaned and stitched up my wounds. Dean never left my side the whole time, his dark eyes swimming with raw worry and heartache. "I'm sorry I'm late," he said with a frown. "If I'd found you sooner, you never would have gone through all that pain." Before I headed to school, I’d had a bad feeling something would go wrong.
