Zara had been avoiding Cath for as long as she could, but working for her and living in the same house made this a very awkward situation. After speaking to her only when absolutely necessary for two days, Cath finally took her aside. “We need to talk.”
“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again,” Zara apologized.
“Let’s sit down.” Cath accompanied her to the library where they both settled into the armchairs. “It’s none of my concern whether you have a boyfriend or not.”
Zara breathed again. “You’re not going to fire me?”
“Not unless you neglect your duties.” Cath smiled. “I have grown to like you and I would hate to see you get hurt. But despite his often reckless attitude, Glenn’s a good man.”
