All day he’d spent outside in torrential rain and was drenched to his bones. His foul mood accurately matched the awful weather, as he kicked a few pebbles ahead of him. Snooping around the Wiesbaden airfield had been a complete loss of time.
He hadn’t been able to smuggle himself inside the security area, and the only thing he saw was the runway slowly turning into a muddy lake. Not nearly enough intelligence to justify a day out in the rain. He decided to call it a day and return to his accommodations, where he’d phone in to his office and report the non-news.
But when he walked away, something unusual caught his attention. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but it was odd. The hustle had decreased and the airfield seemed so…empty. Empty?
