ON THE SEAFLOOR—AT USS TEUTHISUSSTEUTHISAlthough we did not know it at the time, the Seahawk that medevacked our injured seamen laid a passive sonobuoy x-pattern on its way back to the destroyer. Almost immediately, these sonobuoys picked up the sounds of the Carp that had worked its way toward us from the southwest. Carp had bottomed in the depression behind the mound to the southwest that we thought would shield us from that direction.
