He used the outboards, so there was virtually no noise output. Frisco and Swordfish were keeping Shchuka and Carp at bay, but the Soviet subs were diligently searching for us. Our decoy had lured them to the edge of the Arctic Basin, and our guys were keeping them there for now. Sooner or later, however, they would return to the hole. When that happened, we wanted to be long gone.
