Jimmy looked down at me. “What are you doing with him? You’re supposed to be helping me.” He didn’t look like he was too worried about it. That was too much for me. I took off running, heading for the outside stairs that led up to his deck. “Wait, Sonny,” the marshal called after me. “I’ll take care of it.” I didn’t, though. When I saw that big cat grin of his laughing at me like it was a joke, everything that had happened got pushed onto him. All I could think about was tearing off his face.
