Story Four - Part Six
We had been in my father’s pack for two days. He wouldn’t let me see Randy and Kurt. And he kept parading all the unattached Lycan males through to see me. I wasn’t going to change my mind. But I might lose it if he didn’t let me see my mates. And soon.
I heard a commotion outside. Lots of growling and snarling. They were here! I could smell them. I ran past the Lycan currently trying to garner my attention. Apparently, it was a big deal for a Lycan princess to appear out of nowhere, but I could give a s**t less. I told my father this at every opportunity.
I ran out the door of the packhouse. The Lycans my dad had posted as guards were trying to take Kurt and Randy away.
“Stop!” I yelled at the top of my voice. “Let them come to me.” I demanded.
The guards didn’t know whether to listen to my commands or not. I didn’t give them a choice. I ran to my mates. The guards let them go as I reached them, and they enveloped me in their arms.
“Dana! Baby, we were going crazy. Our wolves are trying to go feral knowing you are nearby and being held from us.” Kurt said into my neck.
“Sweetheart. I needed this. I really did but my dad is outside the gates right now. Your father won’t let him in,” Randy said.
This nonsense must stop.
“Where is my father?” I asked the nearest guard.
“Uh…” They didn’t know whether to answer me or not. Obviously, they were more afraid of the glorious Lycan King than its princess. Note the sarcasm.
“Let’s go to the gate then and let your father in. That should make my father turn up.” He’d been ignoring me since our last blow up. He knows I blame him for this s**t show. My mom and siblings were still here too. We were all reeling in shock from all of Dad’s secrets.
Apparently, Mom did know about Dad’s Lycan heritage. So, I was pretty pissed with her too. But it turns out she’s not Dad’s mate. She was with him for many years, and he swore to let go of his mate when he finally found her, if he ever did. Apparently, for Lycan’s it wasn’t as easy as it was for other types of shifters to find their mates. When he finally found his mate at some ball or some such thing, he dumped Mom and us kids like a hot potato, out in the city. What a stand up f*****g guy, am I right?
But I guess the joke was on him because his mate never had any children. Not. One. While Mom had three. I was the oldest, so when my twentieth birthday comes in a few days, they think I will shift for the first time. My brother and sister have to wait a few more years to find out if they will turn. According to what I’ve learned so far, there is a good chance they will. Now Dad wants to change everything and keep us all here. Even Mom, if that’s what it takes and his mate is PISSED! I feel a certain satisfaction knowing that.
Mom explained that she was half wolf shifter but because of her mixed blood, had never shifted. It was like a fifty fifty chance that a mixed blood would go through the change. I guess that's why he dumped us too. Dad didn’t think his precious pack would accept a half breed or her kids so he kept her on the down low. But he kept knocking her up. I mean, can you be anymore - dickish? I can’t believe I’m his offspring really. And what Mom had to go through all these years, by herself? I’ll never forgive him for her broken heart. NEVER.
Dad hasn’t even said he was sorry for his behavior. I think that’s what has me in such a rage. Every time he’s in range of my voice, I let him have it.
The three of us started walking towards the gate. It’s not like we’ve got a car at our disposal.
“How did you find me?” I asked the guys. I assumed my father had them locked up somewhere. I was about to come unhinged by his high-handedness.
“We kicked the Lycan’s asses that were holding us hostage. Then we ran until we caught your scent.” Kurt said, grinning. My father was going to freak when he found out his Lycan guards got beaten by some wolves.
“f**k yeah! Lycans are superior my ass. He’s been parading Lycans through thinking I’ll pick one over the two of you. “They both growled, and I stopped to hug them both again.
“No, stop. No reason to be jealous. His plan backfired. There is no one here that is as delicious as the two of you. If your father wasn’t here, I’d say we would find a dark corner and f**k like rabbits until you got me pregnant. Then he couldn’t say anything, could he? f*****g hypocrite, is what he is.”
I started walking again. I’m sure my father will be along any minute now. I ignored the whine coming from Kurt at the mention of f*****g. We couldn’t get distracted.
“That sounds like a fine plan, sweetheart. You should be running this pack by now. You are full of good ideas,” said Randy.
I grabbed both their hands and started running. “He’s coming. We’ve got to get to the gate now!” I yelled. My hearing and sense of smell have gotten better tenfold in the last few days. If I hadn’t found Randy and Kurt, I’d be going through this all by myself. Can you believe that s**t? I would have thought I was going crazy! That's my father for you, cream of the crop, not.
We rounded a corner and the front gate came into sight. Randy let go of my hand, so he could run faster. He jumped and landed on the other side. Holy f**k balls, that gate had to be at least eight feet tall!
Damn, my panties were soaked. That was freaking hot. I was running full out, but I wasn’t panting. Lycan genes, I guess. I said to Kurt, “Can you do that too?”
“You ain’t seen nothing yet, baby.” He ran and vaulted the gate as well. Can I do that too? I wondered.
My father was yelling my name. I felt a growl grow in my throat. A goddamn growl! I picked up speed and jumped. I cleared the fence with plenty of room to spare. Holy Mary, that was awesome!
I followed Randy and Kurt to a line of cars parked outside the gates. An older man was standing beside one of the lead cars and Randy ran up to give him a big hug. He looked back and gave me a huge grin.
“You made it!” he yelled.
“Yeah, I did, didn’t I?” I was incredulous, really. I heard my father and his Lycan guards run up to the gate behind me.
“Dania. Get back here. You can’t leave with them!” He sounded a little desperate and I wondered why? Why does he care if I am here or not? I was going to find out, that's for damn sure.
“Are my Mom, sister and brother still behind the gate with you?” I called.
“Yes, of course,” he said imperiously. He’s such a douche.
“Then I’m not going to run off. I’m not you, Dad. I don’t bail on people.” I could almost feel his fury from here. He wouldn’t want me to air any dirty laundry in front of his pack. Ha. Too freaking bad.
I turned towards Randy and his father. He grabbed me around my waist and pulled me close. Kurt hugged my other side.
“Dad, I want you to meet my mate.” Randy proudly introduced me.
“And mine,” Kurt put in.
“Hello, Sir. I’m Dana.” I stuck out my hand, but Randy’s dad pulled me in for a hug.
The guys growled low and I just shook my head. And smiled.
“It’s lovely to meet the woman who captured my boys’ hearts. But it seems your father is glowering at us. Should we see if he will let us in now?” Randy’s dad asked. I realized I hadn’t caught his name in all the excitement.
I was startled when he called out, “Lycan King, it seems like we will be making that peace treaty after all!” he said in a jovial tone of voice.
What the hell! Did Randy and Kurt know about this? Well, I guess they could have known about a peace treaty with my father, but they couldn’t have known my father was the Lycan king when I didn’t, could they? That was a depressing thought. I tried not to hang my head. That would not be a good look for the Lycan Princess, now, would it? How had my life gotten so f****d up in such a few days? So many questions and not enough answers.
We had started walking toward the gate and nearer to my father. His eyes were ablaze with fury and I started right back with all the rage I felt.
“Do you now see why I tried to keep you away from them?” he called as the gates started to swing open.
“Actually no. Your secrets are what got us all into this mess in the first place, so why don’t you be clear now and tell me why you decided not to go forward with a peace treaty? Is it because you think your kind are superior or for some other reason?” I demanded.
Randy’s father started laughing uproariously. “Oh Boys! I like this girl of yours already!”
