As soon as the last bell sounded, I blew a ball of relief and stuffed my bag with as many books as it could take in. Right at the doorway, as I swished out through the classroom doors, my ringing phone buzzed. A glance at the screen; Emily.
I has told her not to bother me whenever I was in school.
I hit to answer it. "Emily?”
“Boss, I have a problem." Her voice was tight. "Some customer just came in and told me he wants to buy everything in stock."
I raised an eyebrow, shifting my bag again on my shoulder. "That's odd." A sale that big by rights should have been a good thing, yet something in Emily's tone kicked my instincts up. "So what's the problem?”
A pause, then, "He said he won't place the order until he meets the boss of K Boutique."
