Yes, ma'am."
"I would fix it tomorrow, but I need to go to work early to review those accounting reports. I'm so tired," she said as they both walked out of the kitchen.
"The more reason I should be out of here in the next second," he said.
She paused and turned to look at him. " Do you have an older sibling?" she asked.
"No. Why?"
"Younger?"
"Yes. Why?"
"You haven't been slapped enough in your life. But I'll do that for you. Just stop arguing already," she said and sat down and he followed suit.
Trevis joined her on the couch - at a fair distance - laughing. She stretched her legs in front of her self, smiling. Then she winced.
"Are you okay?", he asked, concern edging round his voice.
"Oh, yes. Thank you for making me forget that this is the period of my muscles cramps. I could hit you for that", she said sarcastically, carefully stretching the legs now.
He burst into another fit of laughter and this time, she joined him.
"Nice", he said, after he had stopped laughing.
"Hey, if you ever went to school, what figure of speech is that?", she asked teasingly.
"Uh, between irony and innuendo?", he replied with a question and they burst into laughter.
"Silly boy!"
"How many more people would call this thirty three year old man a boy?", he asked, his head, tilted, like he was in deep thought, his hands, stroking their imaginary beard.
"A hundred more", she replied.
Not long, the rain stopped, as suddenly as it had started. Kaylee stoop up.
"Let me go transform myself into a Mechanic, young man. Just sit there, I'll be right back", she said, limping to a door, probably her bedroom. In voluntarily, he shivered as his thoughts went in that direction.
Two hours later, his car, fixed, dinner eaten and TV, watched, Trevis and Kaylee said their good nights and went to bed. He'd helped her fix his car, make delicious dinner and clean up the kitchen. It felt natural, so natural, he'd almost suggested lying on the same bed as her.
Now, he was stuck in his temporary room, tossing and turning, turning on and off then on his lamp, sitting up, lying back down, Walking the length of the room, having a second shower and admiring the paintings.
Tired, but not sleepy, worn out but not dozing, without thinking, he got out of bed and walked, as if hypnotized, to Kaylee's room. After knocking two times, he opened the door a peek, then wider when he saw her sprawled on the bed, the duvet at her ankle. He walked in and covered her with the duvet.
After staring at her peaceful face for a while, he didn't know when he planted a kiss on her forehead and her eyes fluttered open.
"Protective, already?", she teased mildly.
"I was tossing and turning", he said
"I just closed my eyes but I wasn't asleep".
"That means you heard when I knocked", a pause, "I guess I should go back and try to sleep", he said and headed for the door.
" Wait", Kaylee said without knowing why.
"How about you sleep here?", she knew that he'd been waiting for that.
"Would be nice , but, wouldn't I be intruding?"
Kaylee didn't know why, but she laughed, then turned on her side and heard him creep into the bed after some time.
Minutes after, "Kaylee? You asleep already?"
"Mmm...?"
"Are you asleep already?", he asked again.
"Mm hmm..."
"Want to cuddle?'
"one of your teddies?", he asked.
"No. Me."hmmm
