Chapter 3.

753 Words
Tan's POV. I was in two minds about ringing the police. On the one hand, the pair of them hadn't really done anything wrong other than be a bit abusive and there is the matter of them being in my house uninvited. I decided not to call them just yet. I wanted the two of them to stew in the garage a little bit longer. I could still hear them shouting at me to let them out as I walked around the kitchen, making sure the cabinets that had my stuff in were definitely empty, and I took some pictures of the ones that had Chris and Serena's things in to prove that I hadn't taken anything either. Once I made my way around the kitchen, I went into the front room and collected the last of my pictures and the last couple of books I had left on the side. The house was a simple open-plan home, from the kitchen into a dining area and then into the lounge. There were bi-fold doors to the left that lead to a patio and a decent-sized garden and BBQ area, I would miss the Montana scenery though. Heading upstairs, I looked at the blank spaces on the walls where pictures used to hang. I headed to the master bedroom. Although it was more like my room, in the last few months Chris had barely even been there and if he was, he would sleep in the guest room with Serena. The room had a queen-sized bed in the center, a walk-in wardrobe to the left with a dressing area and to the right was the bathroom. I went into the walk-in and my side was empty of everything that I owned. Except a few pairs of shoes and a couple of bags that he bought me. I didn't want them anyway, they were obviously knock-offs. Serena would be welcome to them. The last place I needed to check was the attic, where my last box was. There wasn't anything of value inside, just some bits and pieces of my work. Nothing else was up here. I had already packed up my stuff and shipped it back home to Arizona, to an apartment I had bought nearby to the pack-lands. I knew my mother would prefer me to live in the pack house, but I had found it too crowded before. I liked having my own space, and it let me work more easily. I grabbed my last box and made my way downstairs. As I reached the bottom step, I was shoved sideways, causing the box to fall from my hands and the contents spilled onto the floor. "What the f**k Tan!?" a male voice shouted. Great, Chris was home. "Care to be a bit more specific Chris?" I replied, nonchalantly. "You locked Serena and Gale inside the garage, for the last hour." He was pissed. "Oh, you mean I secured two trespassers that were inside my house without my permission." "Serena lives here now with me. This isn't your house anymore." "Actually, it is. At least until 1pm today and then it's yours. So, I did nothing wrong and have the paperwork to prove it all." He knew that I was right, he was just trying to show off for Serena and Gale, who were fake crying in the kitchen. Oh, they put on a good act. They could have both shared an Oscar. "That means nothing Tan and you know it. Regardless, I gave them permission to be here. You were the one uninvited." He puffed out his chest, trying to make himself look big and tough. I laughed a little bit at his pathetic display. He wasn't that imposing to me anymore. He was about 5ft 9 with shaggy brown hair that never went past his eyes. He had stubble on his chin which never grew. He used to visit the gym a lot to keep in shape, but since he started f*****g around with Serena, he had let himself go a little, he had a bit of a belly now and was a shadow of the man I used to know. Thank god I was leaving. "As luck would have it, Chris. I was just on my way out. I have a plane to catch and that was my last box. Here's my key and the alarm codes. Knock yourselves out." I threw the key at him with the keyring that had the alarm codes on it. "Tatty bye darlings."
