Chapter 11.

1139 Words
Tan's POV. I couldn't believe this. My own family. Selling me to another pack for resources and medical knowledge that could be attained without the need for me having to mate with some stranger from a pack whose name I still didn't know. "Tanya." My father scolded me. "Do not speak to us that way, we are still your parents. You are an Alpha's daughter. We have managed to stave off the offers from other packs, some good and some not, to give you that chance to find your mate and be happy. But, you are 24 now and clearly, there is no mate with you." "What your father means is. We all have responsibilities to the pack. Your brother Lucas has found his mate and the future Luna and will be bringing her back with him and Joseph. Well, his position is here as the beta." My mother backed him up. "Oh, so, I have no place here and would be better off being shipped to some strange place to have an arranged marriage and mate with some old creep from a mysterious pack that you won't tell me where or the name?" I was so angry. This is why I left in the first place to pursue a career in architecture and interior design. After college, I got an apprenticeship for Knight Architecture Company, which was a big deal for me at 18. There weren't many candidates as young as I was. I honestly didn't expect myself to get the position, but because of some of my more unique design ideas, they managed to land it for me. Now, at 24, and being successful and in a good managerial consultation role at the company, it's like I'm still not good enough in my parents' eyes. Eden was less impressed at the prospect of having to marry and mate someone who was not our fated mate. She was really fighting me for control. I could never understand how she was so strong, but yet I couldn't shift. "Tanya. It's not like that, and you know it deep down. We wouldn't be doing this if we had another option, but truth be told, our medical facilities are not as good as some other packs. Our hospital is only small for the size pack we have, the equipment is old and some of it outdated. We need the support of the Blue Creek Pack and their offer to help us improve and grow the hospital to something more suitable for a pack of nearly 700." My mother tried to explain. I was too furious to listen to all of what she had said. But, there it was. The name of the pack I had been sold to. The Blue Creek pack were rumored to be one of the worst packs to have an arranged mating ceremony with. The old Alpha and Beta were notorious for abusing their mates and even swapping or trading them for younger females with other Alphas or men in the pack. It made me sick to my stomach. However, conveniently, there was no proof of this happening as the females kept their mouths closed or disappeared. "Blue Creek. You sold me to the Blue Creek pack." I said between gritted teeth. "Do you know the rumors about that pack? About what they do and how they treat their members, let alone how they treat the mates that go to them through the arranged matings?" "Those are just rumors. Nothing of substance has ever been brought to light about mistreatment of members or mates. There is nothing to support the rumors." My father replied, the vein in his temple pulsing with frustration. "And, you have not been sold. Don't make this out to be something it isn't. You have been partnered with one of their ranking members to provide a secure ally and resources we desperately need. You have not been sold." In a moment of shock, my control over Eden slipped, and she surged forwards, my eyes glowing a bright icy blue. "There is no difference!" She roared, shaking the walls. "I will never be with someone who is not my mate. Tanya deserves better than this from her own parents." "Eden. I command you to give control back to Tanya. Now." My father tried the Alpha command, but it had no effect on Eden. And, to be honest. My thoughts echoed that of my wolf. She stood tall and proud. Letting him see that the command had no effect. "Me and my human are not bargaining chips to be played between old men. Why do you think she left in the first place?" "You left to rebel against your duties to this pack!" my father shouted, now he was angry. The first emotion I had seen since entering his office. "We left to become a better asset to the pack!" we shouted back, our voices merging together. Letting out the Alpha aura we had held back for so long. I even thought I saw both my mother and father flinch at this. "For years, Tanya and I worked our asses off to become someone you could both be proud of. I went to college and graduated at the top of my class in architectural design. Then I managed to land one of the most prestigious apprenticeships in the country at Knight Architecture and Design. I became the youngest Lead design consultant that the company had ever seen. I secured multi-million dollar contracts with other global entities around the world. I even have the CEO of Masters Construction and Security meeting with me in 2 days to begin work on a personal project for him. I left to become someone you would be proud of, someone that can come here and make our pack better, be someone that can make a difference. But, that still isn't enough for you two, is it?" Tears were streaming down my face. Eden had given control back to me through my little speech as it was me who needed to say it. She was still there in silent support. My parents never saw my worth more than an Alpha's daughter that could secure pack alliances with. They loved me, I knew that. But I was never enough. I always felt like I had to prove myself to them, and never got much in the way of praise. "Tanya, we have always loved you and been proud of your achievements. But, this is still something that we need you to do for us." my mother tearfully replied, clutching her hands together. Tears filled her eyes but they didn't fall. "Tanya. Did you say Masters Construction and Security have a meeting with you?" My father asked. Great, out of all that. That one piece of information was all he picked up on.
