Chapter 8

Tans POV. As well as basically being a small town. The packlands also had homes distributed all across the land. They ranged from tall apartment buildings to single-story dwellings and even some cottages on the outskirts for those who wanted a more quiet lifestyle. The one I chose was close enough to the pack house that, if I was needed, I could go, but I would then be able to come home and have my own space. I pulled the car into the small driveway looking at the beautiful little red brick house in front of me. The porch out front was perfect for sitting on an evening with a good book and a cup of coffee or tea if I fancy it. Inside, there was a large living space that opened into the kitchen and dining area and there were two double doors that led out into the garden, which wasn't too big. There were two bedrooms upstairs, just in case I had any guests coming. My room, the master, had space for my king-sized bed against the far wall next to the large built-in wardrobes. To the other side was an en-suite and just enough space for a reading corner with a comfy armchair, small bookcase and a standing lamp. The other room was a bit smaller and more basic. It still has a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom, but it doesn't have the extra space for the reading corner. Although, I did consider making it into a library room with wall-to-wall bookcases filled with books. But, the need for a guest room made more sense. There was also an office on the second floor where I could work on my projects, but work could wait a couple of days until the rest of my belongings arrived. I was still waiting for my sofa, foot stool, armchair, bed, the rest of my clothes and my books. I checked my emails and saw a notice from the moving company informing me that the rest of my stuff should arrive tomorrow, which was a day early. I didn't bother with any cutlery or crockery or pots and pans from my old house because I could just replace them. Besides, Chris chose it, and I wasn't a fan. Who has snot green plates with an electric pink rim? Gross. I would have to make a trip to the nearest city to find a target or something to buy some new ones that I liked. As well as some new mugs and glassware. I dropped my bags on the bed and then grabbed my wash bag and went into the bathroom and organized my toiletries before jumping into the shower and quickly washing my body and hair. I got out and wrapped a towel around me. My mother brought in some basic things, like some of my old clothes, a bed in the spare room and a desk in the office, as well as some bedding, towels etc. I might change them; I might not. I haven't decided yet. I got dressed in a pair of shorts and a loose top, I dried my hair and put it up in a loose ponytail. I'd need to find a hairdresser soon. My hair was way past needing a trim. I put on my sneakers and locked up. The walk to the pack house was only about 20 minutes or so. I passed the park where there were mothers and their pups, some older children playing in the playground and the teens were playing soccer on the grass.my mind drifted back to the fact I had been so very close to my mate on the plane. It took everything in me to keep Eden at bay so she didn't take over and hump his brains out in the middle of the flight. She was still a little angry with me because I basically ran away from him. After everything with Chris, I didn't want a relationship or a mate for a while. As I carried on, I passed some elderly members sitting on the benches watching the children play or feeding the birds. Some were even playing card games or various other board games. I think I even saw dominoes being played as well. I approached the front doors to the pack house. The other members of the pack either smiled at me or just stared, as they probably didn't recognize me. Little did I know this was not going to be the homecoming I was expecting.
