Chapter Sixty eight: Faye POV

1610 Words

Thursday brings Sera and the glass for the meeting room window on the same morning. The glass arrives first. The construction crew fits it into the south facing frame while the compound moves through its usual Thursday rhythm. By the time Sera's car comes through the gate, afternoon light is already streaming through the new window at exactly the angle Théo predicted. The room feels different. Larger somehow. Not because of the size, but because of what the light does to it. Sera steps out of the car and studies the compound. She makes the same careful assessment she did during her first visit, but it is different now. The first time she was mapping unfamiliar territory. This time she is returning to something she already knows. Places look different once they belong in your memory
