CHAPTER 34
Morgan sat back in the chair and stared at Charley. I lost our baby, Morgan.
Pregnant? Son of a b***h. His gut clenched and his heart pinched. He squeezed the chair arms. He hadn’t even known she was pregnant. She hadn't even bothered to tell him.
“Morgan?”
He let out a deep breath. “Why didn’t you tell me, Charley?”
She sighed. “Because I was mad at you. And I didn’t want you to stay out of obligation.”
Morgan leaned forward. “Well, Charley, you’re right. I would’ve stayed out of obligation if I didn’t love you. But I do.” He pushed out of the chair and stood next to the bed. “I love you.” He pointed to his chest. “Do you hear me, woman? I love you.” He kneeled down and placed his hand over hers. “Charley, I’ll love you until I take my last breath. This, I promise.”
