CHAPTER 13 The Pinkerton agent stood in the foyer, his black boots glossy against the marble floor. Andy, Constance, and Katherine approached from the parlor. Andy held out his hand. “I’m Andy Mason.” The agent pumped Andy’s hand. “Pleased to meet you, sir.” “This is my mother, Constance. And my sisters, Charley and Katherine.” “Ladies.” Sydney Gallagher nodded his head toward the women and looked at Andy. “Is there somewhere we can sit and go over my reports?” “Of course.” Andy motioned toward the study. “Right this way.” Sydney followed Andy. When they entered the study, Sydney stopped and looked at the women. “Are the ladies joining us?” Andy frowned. “Yes. Why wouldn’t they?” Sydney cleared his throat. “I wouldn’t want to offend their delicate sensibilities.” Charley blew air
