As Anahi walked away, she wondered if she had done the right thing.
She couldn't help but feel bad for insulting Mr. Dante like that.
All he did was offer his hand to her.
To be completely honest, she wanted to hold his hand, but she saw Isabelle shaking her head.
So she refused it.
Maybe the universe wanted them close, because as soon as she refused it, she fell into his arms.
A part of her was angry at being so clumsy around him, yet another part of her was happy that she fell into his arms.
But judging from the way she spoke to him, it looked as though he wouldn't bother her again.
Did she want him to suffer?
No.
Did she want to submit to him?
She hadn't a clue.
Just then, she felt a pair of arms circle her waist.
"You look simply ravishing Anahi."
She turned around to see Sebastian staring at her, a smirk on his face.
He looked well dressed, in his black tux, his hair combed back neatly.
"Who invited you Reignas?"
Isabelle was scowling at the two of them.
Sebastian stepped towards her.
"You look nice Nublas."
"Tell me something I don't know," she said, flipping her hair, "like the answer to my question."
He rolled his eyes. "Before you go all queen bee on me your brother invited me."
"Of course." she muttered under her breath.
Anahi giggled, causing them to focus on her.
"What's so funny Ana?" she asked.
"The two of you fight like cat and dog." she said, laughing uncontrollably.
"I'm surprised I didn't get clawed yet." muttered Sebastian.
Isabelle rolled her eyes.
"Glad I didn't get bitten." she said.
"Want to make today a first Nublas?" he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Oh please." she said.
As the two of them continued to bicker, Anahi's gaze went towards Dante. He looked like he belonged here, amongst these rich people.
Not she.
She stood out like a sore thumb.
She felt so out of place, wondering if it was too late to go into her room and lock herself in there.
She focused on Dante, but he wasn't there anymore.
"You summoned me?" he asked, startling her as he wrapped his arms around her.
"No." she said, but she was glad he was there. She didn't feel so alone anymore.
"Oh really? You looked so lonely."
She rolled her eyes.
"Isabelle was keeping me company."
"I see she's doing a good job, bickering with her ex-crush."
She pushed him away.
"What do you want? Haven't you said enough?"
"I'm sorry Anahi, I didn't mean it. You know this." he said, his voice breaking.
Oh, how she wanted to hold him in her arms!
"Oh do I?" she asked instead.
He was about to answer her when the lights dimmed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is about time you are properly introduced to the lady of the night. The one who is the reason this ball was organized. Ladies and gentlemen, Lady Anahi!" said the speaker, standing on the makeshift stage.
The guests clapped as Anahi made her way to the stage, trying not to trip in the heels she wore.
So graceful, thought Dante.
"And tonight she will be dancing with none other than Sebastian Reignas!"
Dante's jaw clenched in anger as he shot a glare at Sebastian, who looked just about shocked.
Isabelle was furious. Who could've put Sebastian to dance with Ana?
Everyone cheered as Sebastian walked towards Anahi.
He bowed.
"May I have this dance?" he asked.
Anahi hesitated, but took his hand and they danced to a slow song.
With every step they took, Dante felt like he was dying inside.
He wanted to kill Sebastian and take Anahi into his arms.
But she was mad at him. She might kill him if he did that.
Isabelle wasn't sure if she was happy that Dante was hurting and was going to apologize to Ana after all this, or hurt that she was hurt about this dance and had no idea why.
Uncomfortable was not a word that could describe how Anahi felt as she danced with Sebastian.
Every now and then, his hand would circle her waist and she'd glare at him.
She wanted the dance to stop and she looked at Dante.
He looked so pained, like every movement was killing him.
It killed her too.
Then she looked at Isabelle.
Isabelle looked just as hurt as her brother.
Anahi groaned internally.
What if Isabelle was crazy about Sebastian?
Maybe she was jealous.
Would that affect their friendship?
She hadn't a clue.
"Eyes on me beautiful." whispered Sebastian as he grabbed her butt.
Anahi was mortified and tried pushing him away, but he held on tighter to her.
"Let go of me!" she yelled.
"Stop playing hard to get." he snarled, leaning to kiss the nape of her neck.
She closed her eyes in disgust.
Before she knew it, he was pulled off of her and there was a sound of punches.
She opened her eyes to See Dante on top of Sebastian, his fists flying as he punched Sebastian repeatedly.
"HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY ANAHI?"
