Standing before her is Reynold Clint, the guy she had a nightstand with. He is even defending her.
"Oh Mr. Reynold welcome, what would you like to eat?" the manager asked, shining his teeth. He was so happy that a whole Reynold Clint was in his restaurant.
"Why would I want anything from a monster like you? he asked him rudely. I can't believe that you wanted to hit a woman" Reynold said to him irritably. Reynold might be a casanova and a playboy, but he can never hit a woman.
I am sorry Mr Reynold, you see....
" I am not interested in your explanation"Reynold cut him off rudely and went to help Marie up and led her outside to a quiet garden opposite the restaurant.
"Marie, who was so shocked to speak, recovered herself and asked
"What was that for? she asked him.
"Is that how you appreciate people for helping you ? " he replied to her with another question.
"I am sorry, she replied.
"So why are you defending me? she asked him again.
"Because I love you," he said to her, which shocked her to be bones.
"What!! she asked him because it seemed like her ears were deceiving her.
"I said I'm in love with you and I want to make you my woman," he said bluntly, staring directly into her eyes.
"This must be a joke, how can you profess love to someone you don't know?
"If it is about yesterday, forget about it, it is just a nightstand and nothing more. If you think I will fall for you because of your wealth, then you must be a joker. I have someone I am in love with, so we can never work out" she said to him and stood up.
"If you don't love me, why then did you give me your virginity instead of giving it to the one you love"?
"Whatever I do with my body is not your concern, " she replied.
"Just know that I get anything I want and you are not going to be an exception, " he said as he stood up.
"My eyes are on you," he said to her, and walked away.
What have I gotten myself into? She asked herself bewilderedly, how can someone fall in love in less than twenty-four hours?
He must be kidding, she said to herself, and made her way back to the restaurant. All the ladies who witnessed what happened earlier were staring daggers at her.
She entered the restaurant and started working immediately. At the end of the day, the manager sought her presence. She went to his office and knocked on the door.
"Come in" she heard his gruff voice from inside.
"You called for me sir," she said to him immediately as she got into the office.
He looked at her from head to toe and gave her a brown envelope.
She opened the envelope and glanced through it.
"Sir, what does this mean? she asked him, staring at the paper confusedly.
"It is stated there, your services are no longer needed here," he said to her.
"What!! she screamed. What did I do?
"I don't need to explain myself to you," he said to her and looked away.
Please, sir," she begged him.
"Are you ready to do anything to retain your job? he asked, staring at her lustfully,
I have been captivated by your beautiful face for a while now. Allow me to have my way and you will retain your job, he said to her, faking a smile.
"Sir, you can have your job all to yourself, how much do you even pay me if you want access to my body?" She said in an angered tone and left his office immediately with tears in her eyes.
She flagged down a cab and told him her destination. He drove her to her house and she went down. She was about to enter her flat when she was stopped by Rex. Her neighbor and her crush. He packed into their compound some years ago and they became close, she started developing feelings for him but he did not notice it. He only sees her as a friend.
"What is the problem? he asked her.
"I just lost my job, and my brother is still in the hospital bed, " she said bitterly.
"I am so deeply sorry, Marie. I wish I could help, but things are not going so well for me now," he said to her.
"It is fine, you don't have to worry about me, "my brother and I are going to be fine. she said to him.
"I think we should hang out in the evening and unwind," he said to her.
"That's perfect" Marie replied excitedly at the thought of going out with her long-time crush.
"Let me know when you are ready so I will come and pick you up. Alright… Marie replied.
She went inside immediately in search of the perfect outfit to wear.
A few hours later, Marie was seen dressed in a beautiful red dress and a pair of heels matching her dress.
They got to the club and it was buzzing with music. They made their way to the bar section and sat down.
"What would you like to take? Rex asked her.
"I need a bottle of soft drink," she said to him.
"Soft drink? Rex asked…. Girl, you need an alcoholic drink to ease your pain, he said to her" I have zero tolerance for alcohol, I'm allergic to it as well. So I will go for a bottle of soft drink, okay?" she replied to him.
"Alright then, if you insist," he said to her.
Rex signaled a waitress who works in the bar to come to take their orders, a bottle of vodka for himself and a bottle of champagne for her. She took a sip of the drink but she started feeling dizzy and excused herself to visit the restroom. She spent some time in the bathroom because she realized that her period had started, and she had to clean herself before leaving the restroom.
"Back at the bar, as she was about to sip her drink a hand from now
Here he held her and threw the drink away.
"Oh goodness! She yelled, looking up to see who that was.
