Reynold! She screamed.
Reynold ignored her and pounced on Rex. He gave him the beating of his life.
"What is wrong with you? she asked, raising her voice at him.
"Why are you stalking me? I am tired of this madness, we just had a nightstand and that is all. I don't love you, please look for another lady. I am sure there are thousands of them ready to kiss your feet", she lashed out at Reynold, who was just looking at her and smiling.
"My dear Marie, you can't escape me, it is either you or no one. I go for anything I want and you won't be an exception, so be ready to see more of this face," he said to her and pecked her on the cheeks, which she wiped off with her hands, making a disgusted face. He left the bar after giving Rex a last glance.
Marie used to Rex, who was still writhing in pain on the floor, and helped him up.
"I am so sorry that you have to experience this" she apologized.
"It's okay, but what do you have in common with Reynold Clint? Rex asked Marie a question that she wouldn't want to answer.
"Emm Emm" she started stammering. She did not want to tell him what had transpired between her and Reynold. Rex has been her crush for a long time, even though he only sees her as a friend. She had the hope that he would notice her feelings and ask her out.
"I heard you talk about the nightstand," Rex said to her again, more like a question.
"I had a nightstand with him to be able to raise money for my brother's surgery" she explained to him.
"But why is he now coming after you? It was just a nightstand", Rex asked her curiously.
"I don't know," she replied with a sigh.
"I would suggest we go home. He has already spoiled our night"?
Marie said, and Rex concurred. They left the club, entered his car and he zoomed off.

Marie rushed into the hospital with excitement written all over her face. She just got a call that her brother was out of a coma. She couldn't hold her excitement. Her brother Marvin is the only family she has. Her parents died when she was eighteen and left an eighth-year-old Marvin for her to take care of. She could not complete her college, so she dropped out and took multiple jobs to be able to fend for herself and her brother, but her major source of income was her waitress job in Silver's restaurant, which she lost. She is twenty-two years old and she was the only one taking care of him.
She rushed into the hospital ward with so much excitement but was stunned to see Reynold sitting on the chair and chatting away happily with her brother. They did not even notice her presence.
"Marvin" she called out, and he turned.
"Oh Marie, you are here," he said to her with excitement.
"I have been here for a while now but you were too engrossed with whatever you were saying to notice my presence.
"I am sorry Marie, just that your boyfriend is a very nice man. Look at the things he bought for me," he said, showing her the beverages, food, and many goodies that Reynold bought for him.
"Please excuse me, I would like to have a word with him," she said to Reynold and dragged him out of the ward.
"What is the meaning of this? she asked him angrily.
"What? he asked her, as if he had no clue what she was talking about.
"Why did you introduce yourself to my brother as my boyfriend? she asked him again.
"Because you will soon be my girlfriend," he said to her.
"Please, Reynold, I am begging you to leave me alone. I am not interested", she pleaded with him.
"That is not happening, I am not leaving you for anything even if you have a crush or a boyfriend," he said to her looking her directly in the eyes.

Two weeks later
Marie and Rex become so close that you will think they are already dating. She was so excited when Rex asked her out on a date. She had waited for this for so long for them to be together and she couldn't contain her joy.
They went to a nearby restaurant to eat, they made their orders and it was brought. They chatted happily as they ate their meals. Halfway through their meal, Rex cleared his throat and looked at her directly into her eyes.
"Marie, I have been monitoring you for a while, you are so beautiful and intelligent. I can't help but fall in love with you every day. I know it is coming a bit late but I wanted to be sure of my feelings for you and now I don't doubt myself anymore. I love you so much. Please will you be my girlfriend? he asked Marie, who was so happy. She couldn't contain her joy.
"Yessss" she screamed out happily.
