I was overwhelmed with guilt looking at Roman’s face. I never meant to get him worried. whatever was going on between me and Adrian didn’t have to affect him.
I cupped his face in my hands and smiled “of course not sweetie, I love the idea of a family. I never had a real one and I feel that having you as part of my family will be good.”
I saw Roman’s face crease” You also don’t have a mother?” he suddenly asked, catching me off guard. I regretted at that moment for talking without thinking.
Adrian’s face changed, I could see that he didn’t like the direction of the conversation “Roman, it’s not right to ask personal questions.” he said more like a comment but I knew deep inside what he was doing—trying to protect his son from the truth, may be.
