Chapter 5

1352 Words
Ariah After visiting my grandma I decided to ask my parents if she could join us tomorrow night for my shift. I know it’s going to be a tough bargain given their history but it’s worth the try. Worse case scenario is I’m told no besides how I’m going to get yelled at for going behind their back. But going behind their back was worth it, I found out why I was considered an abomination and told why half of our population adored me and the other half wanted to destroy me. It all started with my mother, she wasn’t supposed to be born a hybrid, just one species given who my grandparents were, both were prince and princess of their species, so maybe the rule didn’t apply. But then again who knows what tricks the Moon Goddess was trying to play. She did allow for us to live outside of our packs and covens for us to mix and mingle with other species. But at the same time there was a war that had started amongst the Witches and Vampires. Yes witches are more powerful due to their magic but vampires had the upper hand in some things, especially if they caught a witch off guard. My take on it is that the Moon Goddess brought peace by mating the prince and princess at that time together and blessing them with someone who was a mix bringing the two species together. Then along came me, given both my parents are half witch everyone expected for me to be full witch and not a hybrid, that was until my mother’s second trimester and everyone started to get this strange aura off of her. My mother does admit that it scared her with how powerful the aura was that she went and confined to both my grandmothers. They both agreed that they’ll do a spell to check and see what’s going on, that afternoon they conducted the ritual that allowed both to dive into my mother’s body and examine me and enter my mind. What they discovered was what freaked Grandma Izzy out while Grandmere Amandla was perfectly fine. Let Gandma tell, she seen nothing but fire flames and buildings fallen down, and no one standing but me her words exactly: “The world is coming to an end.” Grandmere tried to reassure her by seeing the world going two ways and it depended on how I was raised and what path I decided to go down. They never told my mother their findings, that was kept between just them two. ---- “Hey maaaa!!!” where the words that left my mouth as I walked into the kitchen sitting down at the counter watching my mother prepare dinner. “What is it you want my Blue Moon?” (she calls me Blue Moon since I was born on the blue moon) Whenever I held that ‘a’ my mother always knew I wanted something. “I wanted to put in a request for my birthday tomorrow if that’s ok with you? BUT before I do so I need you to hear me out and have an open mind to it.” She’s sitting here looking at me with a raised eyebrow with a curious look on her face. I usually ask my dad for everything since I’m a daddy’s girl but when it comes down to something serious it’s always mom’s call. Given this very request I know it’s going to be up to mom since she was affected by it the most, so here goes nothing…. “So I was thinking, just this once and I promise I’ll NEVER ask for anything else until the next blue moon.” I’m saying this with the biggest smile on my face. “The next blue moon is next year, so you’re really going to go a full year without asking me for something?” I had to think about what she just said and I nodded my head eagerly. “Ok, go on, what's the ask Ariah?” Now I’m nervous because she wants me to get straight to it, no sugar coding or nothing. “Ok, I was thinking…..maybe Grandma Izzy can briefly join us for my first shift?” I say this with a wince because I’m not sure of the outcome, and apparently I have grown triple heads because she’s just staring at me with a look I can’t even describe. “Absolutely NOT! Why in this world or the next would I allow that crazy woman to attend something like that? You’ve gotta be out of your own mind.” is what her high pitched voice yelled at me. “Hear me out first mom’a before you decide to finalize your decision please..” “I’m listening, let’s hear your rebuttal on why I should allow such a thing?” She has now stopped cooking and leaning in front of me with her fingers locked together and her chin resting on them with a stern face. I’m super nervous now and had to swallow that lump in my throat. “Well…. Ummmmm I don’t think she’s considered a threat anymore, she was stripped of her magic. Not to mention haven’t no one tried to come after me in what was going on for sixteen years. I really think that threat is long gone and we don’t have to worry about any of that any more. Not to mention she explained to me why she wanted to end my life.” I didn't mean for that part to slip out, the look on my mother’s face tells me she’s not happy with that last statement. Her eyes are wide and I see them flash red, only time they flash that beautiful ruby red is when she’s pissed. I should know, I have pissed her off more than I can remember, sometimes intentionally sometimes not. “What do you mean when you say she told you? When have you been to see her? How were you able to do so without me or your father knowing?” She was full blown yelling at me now, at least she wasn't calm, because her claim to be angry is much much worse. Here goes nothing to telling the truth which means telling on myself. “Ok so… do you remember when Nanami made her first appearance and you told me the story on how I’m “special” and everything else that went long with that?” I look at her and see her nod her head so I continue. “That night I astral projected into the cells and spoke to her. I didn't sense that she was a threat so I had started randomly visiting her then those random visits turned to be weekly visits…” I can feel her rage so I mind link my dad for back up, I know if anything he can reason with her and he’ll understand where I’m coming from. He does go see Izzy twice a month. “Daddy! I need your help! Mommy is full blown rage. Help me please?..” He immediately responds with curiosity of course. “And what is it that you have done this time Ariah?” I just roll my eyes because why is it that I always have to have done something to piss her off? Maybe she was just having a bad day and I walked in and got the backlash of it, that is possible.. Maybe. That eye roll caught my mom’s attention, now she thinks I’m rolling my eyes are her which just made matters worse. “I asked if Grandma Izzy could come see me shift tomorrow night and it..” I didn’t get the chance to finish the rest before he was standing next to my mom looking at me with wide eyes. I literally felt defeated and just put my face in my hands and huffed. I literally don’t see me winning this. Yea that’s his mother but we know he’ll choose my mom over anything or anyone except me.
