Tyresse was already outside the next morning.
Waiting.
Quiet.
Hands in his pockets.
He wasn’t checking the time.
He wasn’t pacing.
But he hadn’t left either.
The door opened.
Kai stepped out.
Tyresse looked up.
And froze.
Kai walked down the stairs slowly.
Gracefully.
His hair was packed, a few strands falling across his face.
He looked small, yet somehow hard to ignore.
The faint scent of his fragrance reached first.
Light. Clean.
His shirt was slightly unbuttoned at the top, a silver necklace resting against his skin.
Sunlight touched his face softly.
Tyresse didn’t move.
Didn’t speak.
Kai stopped in front of him.
“You wanna grab breakfast? Classes start by 12.”
Tyresse blinked once.
“…Okay.”
They walked together.
Breakfast was quiet.
Not awkward.
Just new.
“You’re up early,” Kai said.
“So are you,” Tyresse replied.
Kai smiled faintly.
They finished and headed to school.
Side by side.
Students noticed.
Whispers followed.
Kai heard them.
Tyresse didn’t react.
They kept walking.
At the assembly ground, students gathered unexpectedly.
Murmurs filled the air.
“Why are we here this morning?”
“What’s going on?”
Kai stood with Marvis and Zayn.
“Maybe something interesting for once,” Marvis said.
Zayn shrugged.
The announcement came.
“Classes 3 and 4 will be going for a camping trip.”
Excitement broke out immediately.
Kai’s face lit up.
“That’s actually good,” he said.
His friends were already talking over each other.
Tyresse stood with Xavier and RJ.
Unbothered.
No reaction.
Kai noticed.
He hesitated.
Then walked toward him.
“You’re not excited?” Kai asked.
“It’s just camping,” Tyresse replied.
“That’s the point. It’s supposed to be fun.”
No response.
“You don’t look like someone who has fun,” Kai added.
“You seem like someone who talks too much.”
Kai smiled.
“Maybe.”
“Are you going?” Kai asked.
“Yes.”
Kai nodded.
“Good.”
“Why?”
Kai shrugged.
“Because it won’t be boring.”
Tyresse looked away.
Kai returned to his friends.
The assembly ended.
Plans started immediately.
Students rushing, talking, preparing.
Later, bags were packed.
Students gathered again, ready to leave.
The buses were lined up.
Noise everywhere.
Excitement louder than before.
Kai stood with his friends, adjusting his bag.
Marvis nudged him. “This is going to be crazy.”
Zayn nodded. “Just don’t fall again this time.”
Kai rolled his eyes slightly.
Students started entering the bus.
Seats filling up quickly.
Kai stepped in.
Looked around.
Only one seat left
Beside Tyresse.
He paused for a second.
Then walked over.
Sat down.
Tyresse didn’t react.
Didn’t look at him.
The bus started moving.
Slowly leaving the school behind.
The journey was long.
Three hours.
At first, the bus was loud.
Students talking, laughing, playing music.
Kai sat quietly.
Glancing outside.
Then once at Tyresse.
Then away again.
Time passed.
The noise slowly faded.
Some students got tired.
Kai leaned back slightly.
Eyes growing heavy.
Without realizing—
he shifted.
His head slowly rested on Tyresse’s arm.
Still.
Tyresse froze for a second.
Looked down slightly.
Kai was already asleep.
Breathing calm.
Face relaxed.
Tyresse didn’t move.
He stayed like that.
The bus continued moving.
And for once—
he didn’t pull away.
