Taylor had fallen asleep completely that evening. He had not set any alarm since he was not going anywhere. Sadly for him, his body had already adapted to his daily routine. He had awoken at 5:30 AM, just like he was used to in the States. He had nothing much to do and so he opened his emails. After all, he did not expect anyone to be awake at that particular time. He decided to take a shower while awaiting the reception to open.
He got into the bathroom and started the shower, without letting any drop of water touch his torso. Unfortunately, the water heater in his bathroom was broken. What a messed up holiday? He asked himself, and you could detect a bit of disappointment in his voice. He went back to his bed and lay on his back.
‘Urgh, what is wrong with the Middle East?’ He wondered, almost screaming it out.
He decided to wait until everyone was back to work, and he actually regretted taking this offer. The room and the bed, however, were meant to provide luxurious accommodation. He felt the silk and chic bedsheet against his skin. It was comforting. He lay there, wondering what he would do all day. He had forgotten to check the view from his window.
It was a beautiful garden, one that you would not find easily during summer and especially in a desert country. It was well maintained with different varieties of colorful flowers. There were white and yellow tulips. Taylor admired the flowerbeds that led to a path. His eyes followed the path to what looked like a cabin, a well-designed cabin. He wondered if he could stay there instead. For some reason, he did not want to leave the holiday home even though he could. There was something about this place that he really liked.
Before he could turn back and get back to the bed, he noticed a figure move in the cabin. He looked further and it was Lynda. He did not know whether to keep looking or go about his business. Even though it had been dark the other night, he had managed to catch a glimpse of everyone at the Jefferson Holiday home. Lynda was quite attractive and even as creepy as it was, Taylor could not resist staring at her from the cabin.
Lynda had drunk a little more than she should have the previous night, she thought to herself. Natalie had already left for work and Ahmed, well, Ahmed was passed out on her couch. They had all left to the cabin to go on with drinking despite all of them having work that morning. She checked the time from the wall clock in her bedroom. She remembered about the clock, it had been a gift from her granny, how much she missed her.
She got up from the large king bed and hopped into the bathroom. In the shower, she couldn’t help but remember her late grandma. She had not been able to attend her burial or to be honest, she had no idea how and when she passed on. The wall clock had been the last thing her grandma gave her, that was the last time she had seen her. Every other day, she wondered if her granny had been angry with her when she passed on.
She felt the warm water cascading down her spine as thoughts streamed in her mind. It felt so nice, she thought. As usual, she started thinking about her day, after all, it was about time she got to attend to her guest. She remembered Taylor, he was hard to not think about. She wanted to give him the best service, as she did with all the guests. She was now drying her body. Lynda was a beautiful woman, after all, most people though that. She had taken care of herself over the years.
She then dropped the towel as she applied the creamy lotion on her body. She was prepared for the day, after all, she had done this every day for six years. But that morning, there was something weird about it. She didn’t waste much time thinking about it, she had always been an optimist.
As Lynda settled on the reception desk, he noticed a figure walking down the stairs. It was Taylor and god, was he handsome? She had her brains exclaim before turning to Taylor’s direction. He was pretty tall, probably taller than he had been the other night. Maybe it was the wine, she dismissed her thoughts.
“Good morning Mr. Taylor.” She greeted him with a wide smile on her face.
“Good morning….” He had somehow forgotten her name. It was embarrassing.
“Lynda, my name is Lynda.” She said to him. “I hope you are well this morning. It is quite early, was the night so bad?” she continued.
Usually, her guests would check out up until 11 am. In some cases, she would let them stay until 1 PM.
“Oh, no, no. It was perfect considering the evening I had. But I have some issues with your bathroom.” Taylor said.
“Oh, I thought I gave you the perfect room sir.” Lynda aid apologetically.
“Well, I think your water heater is broken.” He said, regretfully.
“I will get that fixed in a minute. Kindly have a seat, and would you like some breakfast?” She offered.
“It is a little bit too early, maybe later. Do you have someone to fix my shower?” He asked.
“Why, are you offering?” Lynda said, jokingly.
“I could be,” Taylor said. “You guys partied last night, huh?” Taylor asked. He offered to help the water heater. Lynda stood by the bathroom door watching him work his way to a hot water shower.
He was done within a few minutes. He decided that he would spend the day at the holiday home as opposed to his earlier interest to go to the city.
Lynda, on the other hand, left the room and went downstairs. After all, she had to get started with work. Fortunately for her, there was not much to do around the home since most guests were checking out that day. She would manage to handle Taylor and probably get to swim later that day. She smiled at the thought.
