Kalista tapped on the door. "Hey, I'm finished." She announced to the guard on the opposite side of the door. The small wooden door slung open, and Kalista squinted at the sudden onslaught of light.
"Took you long enough!" Grumbled the attractive man. She looked up at him, his porcelain skin seemed ethereal in the light of the sun. His golden hair glimmered and piercing blue eyes gazed straight through her and into the darkness of the small hut. "Sorry Fin, he was resistant to divulge all his secrets. But I gathered the information the Elders requested." She answered in a monotone voice. Fin proceeded to step around her and toward the entrance and Kalista instantly moved to block his path. She reached up to caress his face, "Please, husband. I'm exhausted, I have wrapped up inside and the slightest disruption could alert the enemy to our business here." Fin looked down at his wife. "As you wish my love, I will trust that you have ensured the secrecy of this mission." He placed his hand atop hers that still rested on his jaw. Leaning down, he whispered into her ear "I know that you would never do anything to disappoint me, Kali." He took the moment to nuzzle into her black hair and kissed her cheek before rising back to his formidable height. Turning to leave, he yelled out to the crew as they lounged about under the small areas of shade protecting them from the blaring sun. "Move out! Back to the Emerie!"
Everyone scrambled to attention, grabbing swords and helmets that had been flung off to offer any type of relief from the scorching heat. One by one, the soldier crew of the Emerie chased after the quickened steps of their captain, leaving only Kalista to reflect on her deceit.
She stood in the beams of the light and watched as they marched off. Her slender figure was dressed in all black. Her curvy hair that cascaded half way down her back was as black as a raven's wing, and her almond-shaped eyes shined like silver ore. To a passerby she might have seemed like a lady of death, here to claim another unfortunate soul. Normally, that's what she was; a heartless assassin cold and unsympathetic towards her victims. But today, today the sight of the child, the wavering voice of a distraught parent. It pulled at her heart, at her soul, and reminded her of a time that once was. A time that seemed to resurface at the most inopportune times and plagued her memories.
She reached behind to slowly close the door.
"Namárië"
Then chased after the departing crew.
