CHAPTER TEN: In which she is told to meet him for the "first" time
It"s been two weeks since my first date with Adrian and we"ve been on four dates so far, all very different but very romantic. He insisted on picking me up on our second date, so every day after our second date he"d send a bouquet of flowers. Whether it"s romantic red roses or simple daisies, it never fails to bring a smile on my face...
My mum raised a knowing brow when he picked me up but said nothing. She interrogated me when I got back and I confessed that he was the guy in my plan, in which she rolled her eyes and asked if this was all just a plan to me. Of course I immediately answered, albeit a bit hesitant. She noticed the hesitation but didn"t question me further.
So focusing on the present, here I was in my "painting room" as I like to call the little area I made for myself in the basement painting Yin and Yang with the supplies I leave with my mum when I visit her... I don"t know why I decided on Yin and Yang, but I had this sudden urge to paint my feelings away. Although the painting wasn"t complete because I, for some annoying reason, couldn"t find the soul in myself to finish the finishing touches.
My phone rung and with a frustrated sigh, I picked it up with my clean hand.
I smiled reading the name, my heart fluttering slightly.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey Lila, did you get the flowers?" Adrian"s smooth voice said on the other end.
I laughed, "You ask this everyday, and my answer is the same everyday. Yes, and I loved them... Declaration of love, isn"t that the meaning?" I said slyly. I can picture him blushing right now...
He cleared his throat, "Is that what tulips represent?"
"Yup," I said not popping the "p"... a very big pet peeve of mine when people do that!
"Anyways I"m painting right now, do you want to see what I"m painting?" I asked.
"Yeah, I would love to," he said as I tapped on and requested FaceTime.
I was about to check to see if I looked decent but then he accepted. I saw his blue-silver eyes shining brightly as he gave me a warm smile.
"Hi... again," I said awkwardly.
He chuckled and said, "There"s a bit of a black smudge on your cheek,"
I gasped, grabbing a mirror and quickly wiping it off. Finally, after a whole minute of scrubbing, it"s somewhat gone...
I flipped my hair and gave him a dazzling smile, "You"ll have to excuse that... I"ve been trying to paint Yin and Yang, the Chinese Taoist symbol for equality and balance in nature,"
He nodded, "Yeah, I know what that is... can I see it?"
I flipped the camera and showed him the painting, he gasped. "Wow... it"s one of the best I"ve seen! You"re such a talented painter... How come I don"t see your paintings in museums and such?"
I shrugged, "I only paint as a hobby and besides it"s not done yet... I have to add some more finishing details before I could truly be satisfied with it,"
"I would love to see it when you"re done with it," he said with a grin.
I nodded, as he said, "Hey my dad is texting me for something important, I"ll talk to you later?"
"Bye!" I said with a smile and disconnected.
My phone vibrated with a text. From dad? I opened iMessage and screamed frustrated, not caring about who heard.
My mum quickly burst in with a frying pan yelling, "YOU BETTER NOT DO ANYTHING TO MY DAUGHTER, OR IN THE NAME OF THE MOON, I SHALL PUNISH YOU!" She posed like Sailor Moon and flipped her hair.
"Mum! Calm down!" I snorted.
"Then why"d you scream, huh?" She said annoyed when her attempted roleplay failed.
Suddenly I"m thrown back into reality, and screamed again.
My mum cautiously stepped towards me like I was a wounded animal that needed help... or like a clown that escaped from the circus.
She shook her head and said, "How many times have I said no drugs? Or no Spongebob Squarepants, since he"s animated version of drugs? I"m sorry sweetie, but you shouldn"t scream if Patrick is being overly stupid... I can"t help with that! Looks like I"ll have to email Nickelodeon again," she muttered.
"Mum! It"s not like that! Look at this," I showed her my phone and she gasped. "Your dad wants you to meet Adrian...? While you"re Liliana?"
"I know right! What if I mess up and give something away? I can"t believe this! Why are we meeting so soon?" I groaned.
"Well, technically if you think about it"s not exactly soon since he told you about the engagement-" I interrupted her with, "Not helping!"
"Oh sweetie you"ll be fine... and what do people know Liliana Silverstone as?"
"The Ice Princess...?" I said weakly.
"I couldn"t hear you, can you repeat that," she said tilting her head and holding a hand on her ear.
I took a deep breath and said strongly, "The Ice Princess without a heart,"
She clapped, "Good! Now go and show off your acting skills sweetheart! You can so do this! And if you can"t, I have a whole list of streaks waiting to be snapchated at regarding my daughter"s failure!"
I gaped, "Mum, you have Snapchat?"
She nodded, "Of course I do, the filters make me look younger than I am, thus gaining a younger audience, if ya get what I mean," she winked as I cringed in disgust.
"Nice to know my mum is a cougar," I said frowning while she laughed.
"I"m kidding! Now shoo on... book a flight and go on with your adventures! While I sit here watching everything from afar with popcorn, of course." She pushed me out of the basement and I slowly ascending up the stairs.
This is gonna be so much fun! Your sarcasm is getting stronger every day... I blame Brianna...
