I kill the engine of my car in front of the compound where I had arrived just hours before Xavier was shot.
Cassian waits for me at the front, armed guards standing behind him at the entrance of the compound as earlier.
By the time Avni arrived, I had taken a much needed shower and then changed into a baggy sweater with flared pants while wearing a bullet proof vest underneath it.
I tuck Xavier's gun once again in the back of my pants before getting out of the car and finding Cassian looking at me with furrowed brows filled with confusion.
"Where's your kid?" He asks and my heart slightly warms at the concern shining in his orbs.
"He's safe." I tell him with a pressed set of lips, making it evident that I will not be giving him any more information than that.
