Xavier did his best to keep me calm and distracted during the flight but now, as the car takes us closer and closer to where Adrian is in Xavier's protection, I cannot help but feel my nerves picking up right where they left off before the flight.
I cannot help but think about how horrible of a mother I am to not be able to protect my son from the monstrous world that I am a part of.
I once had a childhood filled with the machinations of a cruel father and his enemies that stopped at nothing to get what they wanted from him.
And when I found out that I was pregnant, I had vowed that I would never let something like this happen to Adrian.
