CHAPTER4

SABRINA I gasped as strong arms wrapped around my waist. Before I could comprehend what was happening, the ground vanished beneath my feet. We crashed down a low cliff, tumbling violently through the snow and ice until our bodies finally came to a halt. The world spun around me, my breath stolen from the fall, but the weight above me was undeniable “Do you have a death wish? Running off blindfolded and bound… are you stupid, or just reckless?” the warrior growled, his voice rough, scolding. His legs straddled my hips, trapping me completely. My pulse hammered as his hand closed around my wrists, forcing them over my head and pinning them firmly into the snow. The icy cold bit into my back, seeping through my clothes, but it was the heat of his body pressing me down that made me tremble harder. “Let’s see the girl who cost those rogues to risk their lives.” he murmured darkly, lowering his head. With a swift tug, the sack tore from my head. I blinked against the sudden rush of light; then I froze. Piercing blue eyes met mine, sharp and unrelenting. Dark, luscious hair tumbled forward, strands falling across his forehead, framing a face so striking it stole the breath from my lungs. His skin was pale, almost glowing, and his mouth; sensual, full and curved as though mocking my silence. He was a Duskbane wolf, the enemy. The wolves that want to destroy my pack and family; I should hate him, I should spit on his face. The warrior leaned back just enough to study me, his gaze burning over my features before drifting lower. Tracing the slope of my throat, the rise of my breast, the curve of my waist. A slow deliberate smirk pulled at his lips as his eyes devoured me. “It will do you no favor to run from me,” he said, his voice a low warning. His entire frame trembled, though whether from the cold or from the strain of his restraint, I couldn’t tell. My senses finally kicked back in. I thrashed beneath him with all my strength, but he didn’t flinch so much. He was immovable, like a mountain of muscle pinning me down, calm at my desperate struggle. “Get away from me, murderer! Let me go!” I screamed, my voice cracking with panic. His grip on my wrists tightened, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Be careful what you call me, princess… or I might show you just how murderous I can be.” My breath caught, princess? My struggles stilled instantly as his words sank in. “What… What did you just call me?” I whispered. A wicked smile curved his lips as sharp claws extended from his free hand, tracing the line along the side of my face. The cold tip grazed my skin, leaving goosebumps in their wakes. He leaned closer, so close I could see the glint of his fangs when he smiled wider. “You’re wearing the wedding and mating dress of Bloodmoon’s princess. My spy was right.” he murmured, his voice dripping with dark satisfaction. My body stiffened, fear clawing up my spine. If an eastern warrior knew who I was, then my fate was sealed. He released me suddenly, standing with effortless grace. “Forgive me, princess. I didn’t mean to frighten you.” he said mockingly, though there was a strange softness in his tone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, I was only in the wrong place at the wrong time.” I said quickly, my voice trembling but firm. “Yes, you were.” he drawled, sarcasm dripping from his tongue. “Then let me go my way, while you go yours.” My heart hammered as I forced myself to stand tall before him. His lips curled into something between menace and amusement. He shook his head slowly, then stepped closer. His hand reached out, capturing my wrist. His blue eyes bore into me like a predator. It made my chest tighten with something I couldn’t understand. His other hand lifted, catching a loose strand of hair from my hair. He twirled it lazily around his finger, studying it like a priceless possession. “I can’t let you go, forgive me for ruining your wedding, princess Lila… but you’re coming with me, as a hostage.” he whispered. LUCIAN I grip her wrist as I lead her back toward the road. Her emerald green eyes burned with fury when they locked onto me. “Are you going to ransom me to my father? Or to Alpha Williams?” she snapped, her voice sharper than intended. I scoffed, a low growl rumbling low in my throat. She sounded like I should be scared of her cowardly father. “No, you’re coming back with me to Duskbane.” I replied firmly. As we got back to the clearing the rogues had held her, her breath caught as her hands flew to her mouth at the sight of the bodies of rogues littered on the ground. I didn’t spare them a glance, I lifted my fingers to my lips and whistled sharply. My magnificent black stallion jogged into view, his breath steaming in the cold air. “Meet Dre,” I said casually, running a hand over my horse’s sleek mane. I was stunned immediately, I almost forgot she’s the enemy. Why in the goddess name was I introducing her to my horse? She was just my hostage, nothing more. “Don’t try to run away, princess. You can’t outrun me or Dre.” I warned, my voice a low growl against the bitter wind. Before she could protest, my hand closed around her waist, firm and unyielding as I lifted her onto the stallion’s broad back. She gasped, her damp dress clinging to her body from the snow, leaving her far more exposed. My jaw clenched, the soft curves under my grip, the pointed n*****s visible through the soaked fabric. It took every ounce of restraint not to give in to the primal hunger clawing my chest. My claws pressed into my palm until they nearly pierced my skin as my wolf kept screaming “Mate” in my head. “My father will find you, and I demand to know who you are.” she said, her voice cold and imperious despite the tremor beneath it. I gave a small dark laugh, sliding up behind her on the saddle. My chest pressed into her back, my breath brushing her ear. “The only thing you need to know, princess, is that your life is mine. I am your captor. Everything else is irrelevant.” I said flatly. I seized the reins, and with a tug, Dre surged forward. Her scent filled my senses; sweet, feminine, dangerously distracting. Each stride of Dre made her body shift, her rounded backside grinding against my groin with every movement. My jaw tightened, my grip on the reins white-knuckled as a low groan threatened to break free. The princess sat stiff and silent in front of me, her gaze fixed straight ahead. She didn’t fight, didn’t thrash, didn’t even try to scream for help. Too calm, too quiet, as though she had already accepted her fate. My chest heaved, caught between hunger and fury. What is she doing to me? This was Fabian’s daughter; our enemy’s bloodline. Betrothed to that clown Alpha Williams. Their union would give Bloodmoon strength to defeat Duskbane. Right now, her scent is like a siren call to my body, my body craved her, and that infuriated me. With a vicious growl, I forced the weakness down, choking it with the rage boiling inside me. I reminded myself, my eyes darkening with hate. She is nothing but a pawn; a pawn to bring Fabian down. The temptation faded, replaced by a burning promise of vengeance. “You seem like an important person, perhaps a head warrior. Where are your men? Why are you alone?” she said after a long silence, her voice curious. A low laugh rumbled from my chest. “A head warrior?” I repeated mockingly, amusement lacing my tone. Her head whipped over her shoulder to look at me. Her green eyes widened; almost naive like a little pup staring at a wolf. The sight of it makes my groin sprung up again before my mind could stop it. “You’ve taken me captive, I deserve to know.” she pressed, her voice firmer. My hand moved before I thought, sliding up to wrap lightly around her throat. She gasped, the sound sharp in the air. Her reaction did something to me as the wind blew the scent of her p***y to my nose. My wolf stirred with savage hunger by her unbidden response. “I don’t owe you a thing, princess. I could have done more than just taking you captive if I wanted. We’re all alone out here… and that scent from you… smells good to eat.” I inhaled sharply as I released her throat in anger. The last word slipped out before I could stop them.
