Fourteen months ago...
May had just had a fight with her dad after she did not show up for her eighteenth birthday party yesterday, even though she had made it clear she did not want a party but just to have the day to herself. She'd always had parties every year for the past seventeen years, some she can't even remember save for pictures kept for memories. This time, though, she felt like an adult and decided that she'd take the time off to just be with her friends. Her parents had called her idea nonsense, going ahead with planning for the day.
