The Elder’s Council

---POV Res--- At some point during the day, I remember being carried to the bath and being moved to his guest room so he could clean up my mess. “Res?” I heard my name, and he rested his hand on my leg while I rubbed my eyes and turned to him. “Y-yes Faron?” “Would you like to go home today or tomorrow?” He asked. I glanced over at my phone and saw a message ping across the screen. It was from Faith. I glanced over its contents and immediately got my answer. “Tomorrow, Faron.” He nodded and I could have sworn I saw a smile on his lips. “Explain.” He shifted his weight towards me and I noticed he was now dressed in a button-up and black slacks. His black Swiss watch showed through the cuffs while he fitted them together. I stretched and smiled. “I am enjoying my time with my boyfriend. That and Faith just texted me that the pixies that jumped me last night are suspended…mysteriously…so we are going to wait until they get back. I wonder who had anything to do with this unscheduled delay?” I smirked and he turned his eyes elsewhere before nodding and finally clasping the last cuff link. “I took care of it. At least they aren’t dead and you can have your fun later, but like you said, I am your boyfriend. I’m supposed to make stupidity go away.” I smiled at him and lifted myself on my elbows. I sent a quick message to Faith before resting my phone back on the nightstand. I wanted to let her know I wouldn’t be coming back tonight, and I’m stoked about the news. This will make our prank even better. “Thank you Faron.” I said, looking up at him with a newfound lust in my eyes. I'm really starting to enjoy this new publicly protective Faron. He leaned over and kissed my lips. “Alright. Your boyfriend will be gone for a short time. Then, how about we go somewhere? You can use whatever items you have here.” I jumped up happily. “Yes…of course! I’ll…I’ll see you soon.” A date! A real date! We were actually going on a date! I threw the covers off of me and ran to my dresser. I pulled out some lotion and started with that before looking at what clothes he kept for me here. I was so excited that I barely heard the door close quietly behind Faron. Regardless of play or recovery, I feel like I’m always in my subspace with that voice. And now…now he calls himself my boyfriend. It was always the unspoken truth, but to hear it out loud was music to my ears. ---POV Faron--- “So, let me get this straight. The Western Wolves want to pass a bill that the chosen, not the strongest wolf, holds the responsibility of the royal bloodline, correct? Is that what I am hearing?” I asked nonchalantly as I internally tried to stall the room. I did a quick glance around the room, hoping they would show, but there was no inclination that it would happen. I glanced over at his mother and she just shook her head. “In theory, wolves are one of the last of the ancients to change their social successor structure. The rule where the strongest gains power no matter their rank is because of the wolves, but they choose their strength by their born bloodline, not their earned strength. However, if any other ancient wants to fight to rule, they can fight within their respective species. They are allowed, but wolves are not.” Timothy said to the room. He was stepping in for the Hybrid Royals this afternoon. There were a lot of internal complications over there recently and they needed to stay behind to resolve them. “Then why is this not being approved? The strongest should have a right to rule, no matter their bloodline. If their siblings decide they would like to challenge them, then they can...when they are of age and based on due cause.” I responded. My father, Colin, sighed. “That is not the point, son. We have just decided on this order of the strongest wins the crown ourselves, but with the wolves, they pride themselves on who is an alpha or of the alpha bloodline. They are the reason why we shifted our age-old traditions and now they want to say if the weak gets the upper hand in a fight they can rule? There’s also the issue that The White Wolf has spent most of her life kidn*pped or hidden. Her customs are limited regarding the wolf’s social structure at best. She can’t just raise this petition fresh into her marriage with Ayden. How would she know what is best for all the packs in her territory when she did her absolute best to hide from them for all these years? Also, she is stronger than any alpha. The thought that her children will be different than her bloodline is impossible. We must look at all the facts. They will fight for the alpha title and Lily will lose.” Interesting. I have had the pleasure of meeting her and Terra is anything but ignorant. It is interesting that my father thinks this way about the Rogue Family’s Alpha Luna. “At best you say?! My son and daughter know more about our world than you ever will, Colin. Yes, his eldest is a beta, but she is not an omega or a half breed. She is born to one of the strongest bloodlines in our history! She is only a beta because –” The previous Alpha Luna was stopped cold in her train of thought as a cold and rather immeasurable power flooded the room. I shifted in my seat and saw the two wolves I was hoping got my message last week while on honeymoon. Thank you for private planes and overnight deliveries. “Because my late wife was a beta, yes.” Ayden said as he adjusted his tie and shifted his shoulders in his all-black suit. Slightly sun-kissed, both Terra and Ayden strode into the room, immediately commanding the presence of the Wolf council elected alpha pair. They emanated power and authority. I even had to clear my throat with discomfort at their presence. Momma Rogue walked up to them, holding out her arms with a big grin on her face. Terra smiled as she wrapped her arms around Momma Rogue, then pulled away for Ayden to do the same. Terra was dressed in a silver floor-length dress that was showing off all her curves and was see-through in just the right places, leaving her figure flawless and her professionalism intact. “Hello dears. Why thank you for joining us.” Momma Rogue said happily. Thankfully, because of Momma Rogue and I, they knew of the time change. That new wife of his is really something. Even my father was taken a step back. I guess they were late on purpose. It was obvious on my end. Smart. Terra smiled and shortly after they completed the pleasantries with their mom, they all walked to their respective chairs and Momma Rogue took her place behind Ayden and Terra. “Apologies for the delay, but our jet was running low on fuel.” Terra said to the room. “I do hope we didn’t miss much about our pack and our daughter.” Ayden continued. You could hear the distain emanating from their space. The shade thrown was at a level of perfection that even I could not dream to copy. I looked over at my father’s paled face and held a smirk. Perfect. “Let me guess. The time was moved up by two weeks to keep their opinions out of the vote, correct?” I asked to no one in particular. I already knew the answer to this even if we had this session as planned, this conversation wasn’t supposed to be apart of this session because they wouldn’t be here. Interesting how they were so adamant to talk about it after my brother was so shamefully removed from my seat when I arrived. I guess they abused my brother's idiocy. Either way, I’m glad I contacted them. Nothing about this conversation should be done without them present. “Silence!” My father shouted. “Oh no…please continue. I would love to hear what you think of my proposal I submitted eight months ago and decided to review now…during our honeymoon that you knew was happening this week. So, please enlighten me as you silence your son.” Terra said calmly but with enough of a b*tch slap that it would put a grown werebear on their a*s. I could hear a pen drop. She was a bratty one. I know that Ayden’s previous wife was more docile, but Terra really is a spit fire…kind of like Res. I smirked inwardly. I guess great minds think alike. I know he has some dominant tendencies, but he doesn’t really…act upon them as much as me. He is much more lenient. Then again, after last night, I might be just as bad as him. I resituated myself and chuckled lightly as Ayden caught a glance my way. Then I heard a buzz on my phone. I glanced down and read the text from him. ---text conversation start--- “Glad to know we still have an ally in you. Thank you, my friend.” Ayden’s message made sense. He can’t say this out loud, but it confirms that he got my message. I swiftly grabbed the screen and sent a message back while my father stood dumbfounded. “Yes, of course. I believe your wife is a feisty brat. Wouldn’t want to get on her bad side.” I could see the grin from here, as he shifted his weight and started typing back. “A lot more fun to…work with, even though it seems she has me in the palm of her hand. Smart and confident. Couldn’t ask for a better mate.” ---text conversation end--- As if on queue, she rose from her seat, letting the sequins on her dress shimmer from the window’s light. She looked around the room and let her heels take her to the main podium. “I am very much looking forward to having children with my mate. Myself and my wolf cannot wait, but my Little Cub means the world to me. The possibility of me coming in and taking away her birthright because my child is an alpha is archaic. If she can do the job and protect her own, Rogue Industries and its empire should be hers.” My father leaned back and crossed his fingers in front of his face. “So you, White Wolf, are contradicting yourself. How are we to believe your proposal when you believe she should just have it because it is her birthright? That’s even worse.” I know he is referring to my brother, but my dad can really be an a*s when he’s on that podium. The elders around the room started to chortle and her grin almost immediately silenced them. They cannot deny her authority or her power. The fact that she does not use her right as the White Wolf is the reason why we are all still here. Each supernatural being has a legendary creature living among them. The White Wolf is the werewolves, my family is for the vampires and there is something about the Fae that I cannot quite remember at the moment. Either way, she could easily overpower ninety percent of the people in the room without batting an eye. The rest may be a fight, but it’s not completely impossible. However, her smile made everyone think twice about my father’s skepticism quicker than any act of war could. “For someone who has given their chair here and their kingdom at home because of their birthright, which is a mere…ninety-three percent of you, you must understand how much of a challenge it is to not see your snickering as hypocrisy. To see the one who is contradicting themselves as you and not me. You preach the ideology of earning your spot, but not one of you has actually experienced this. Every single one of you, aside from Faron, were born as the eldest in your family and were handed your positions on a silver platter. Myself included. Shortly after I was born, I was introduced to my wolf, The White Wolf. That doesn’t mean Lily should suffer because her blood is not strong enough for you.” Terra said, holding her own against this council.
