To say my mother is forgiving would be a straight lie. It would be like saying the full moon doesn’t affect the tide. That woman is vengeful, methodical, and calculated. Not something you want to see in your foes.
I quietly sat with Faron and his family, enjoying the reality that I had given up the family I’ve tolerated to be with him. Letting the understanding sink in that I really didn’t have enough of an attachment to them to even care. I mean…it was only sad for a moment, then I remembered their distain, hatred, and cruelty towards me. All of my sadness dissipated with the trail my mother left behind as she walked out the door last night.
