Chapter 22

Aria I sat on my bed sulking while glaring at the jerk sitted right from across me. He had just barged in while I was still in the shower, forcing me out in less than five minutes and he couldn't even apologize. Sitting there with that permanent scowl on his face, as though smiling was his natural enemy, arrogant jerk. “With the way you're staring at me princess I'm tempted to think you can’t get me out of your head” he lifted his chin smugly. I scoffed, “Narcissism really suits you. Get over yourself Cain, no one gives a damn” “Whatever you say darling. Let's just act like you're not practically devouring me with those innocent eyes of yours.” I rolled my eyes, “you're not only suffering from Narcissism you're blind too.” I mocked, “f**k off Cain, say what you're here for or get the f**k out of my room” I snarled. He chuckled, “of course princess, whatever you say.” Sigh. “Can't you be normal? What happened to Cain that spent time with me and Elena, and read me bedroom stories? Hanging out with me whenever I am bored or bullied?” I felt my voice break as I reminisced memories I never thought I'd want to. His jaw tightened, “He's dead.” “Why?” I asked, “I never killed Elena, maybe Theron did but I don't know what happened back then, why do this to me? Why hate me?” I sniffed, wanting clarity, I can't keep suffering for something I know nothing about. “You're not a prisoner” he pointed out, neither answering nor offering the clarity I sought. “I never said I am.” I snorted, “I just want to know why you keep acting like I denied you of something precious? Or like we commit a great sin, I’m not the we’re mated.” “Shut up” he snapped. “Make me” I shot back, chest heaving He was on the bed in the blink of an eye, hands wrapped around my throat not enough to choke but enough to keep me grounded. His breath mingled with mine, I found myself lost in his silver pupils, noticing just how long his lashes actually are, “You just don't know when to shut up” he snarled, glaring fiercely. The air in the room thickened, the cool room suddenly felt warm, his body heat rubbed off on me, his chest rose and fell, but beneath them I could see the hate and fear in his eyes. “You're afraid” my voice was barely a whisper “And you're a brat” I shrugged, but didn’t give up, “What are you afraid of? Me?” His eyelid twitched, then he sneered, “And why would I be afraid of you?” “I don't know, maybe you see things in me you're not supposed to, or you feel them, but your heart is racing, you have me on chokehold but you won't actually choke me, will you?” I pressed on. Something flickered past his eyes, he released me as though his hand got stung by a bee, “Shut up and go to sleep.” I chuckled, “That means I'm right, why are you here Cain? You're not here to mock me for challenging Stanley, that much is obvious, unless you care.” I looked at him in surprise, looking for any reaction that'd prove me right, something to betray him. He gave me a blank stare, then grabbing my chin he squeezed harshly. I hissed from the pain trying to pull back but he held me in place, “Keep making silly assumptions and you just might get what you seek.” “And what do you think I seek?” I challenged His pupils darkened, “Keep pushing, and you'll find out” with that he released me, I slumped back on the bed, heaving slightly. I massaged my jaws, glaring at him fiercely, “Asshole” He scoffed, “Brat” Something cracked in the air, I rolled my eyes, “Old man” I snarled, already annoyed from everything. He wouldn't offer an explanation, walking around with a damn grumpy face like the whole world owes him something, well newsflash, he's not the only victim of my father's assault, I’ve had a front row seat to it my whole life. “f*****g trouble magnet” he looked at like he was looking at a disobedient child I smirked “Guess who I learnt it from” “You don't learn do you?” “And you're never straightforward, are you?” I finally understood, “You're here because I challenged your all powerful Stanley, are you here to discourage me or tell me how strong he is? Newsflash I've been more than informed,” He had an exasperated look on his face then he took deep breaths returning to his controlled look, “Stanley's strength is a fact, same as your weakness” I don't know why but his words stung more than I wanted to admit, “thanks for the info, if there's nothing else, leave.” He nodded, “I will,” The calm and aloof look on him made something in me boil, “Why come here if you have nothing useful to say? Already judging me before giving me a chance? You also think I'm stupid for challenging him. Don't come here acting all different, you're just like the rest of them” His face didn't so much as twitch, instead he replied calmly, “Saying you're weak isn't an insult princess” his eyes softened, then his voice turned gentle, “it's an opportunity to get stronger, you'd need to appreciate that Stanley would most likely pummel you to the ground, till you taste your own blood and coil from it” I froze. That was brutally detailed, He caressed my lips, something heavy flashing in his eyes, “But he strong princess, you could make a miracle happen. And no, I don't look down on you, at least my kitty has got claws” With that he stood and walked towards the door leaving me to my thoughts, “Sleep early, your training starts tomorrow” with that the door slammed shut. I was left trying to comprehend what just happened. My hand touched my lips, I could still feel his touch, his presence still lingered heavily in the room, I think I'm going crazy. Hold on, Did he say “Training?” I asked, finally processing his last words, but it was already too late, he was far too gone.
