Izzy’s POV Liam is late again. It’s almost midnight and he has yet to come home from work. He only works 3 weeks out of a month and is home on weekends. But here lately he has been coming home only on Sundays and then having to leave early Monday morning. He does millwright work so he goes all over doing all kinds of work. We have a 2 year old Oliver who loves his daddy more than anything but doesn’t understand why he hasn’t been seeing him as much as normal. Liam finally comes home but just with enough time for him to shower pack a bag and leave for work again. It’s been difficult these past couple of months where he won’t hardly come home when he is home he stays either to himself or with Ollie playing. I have been getting a feeling that something has been going on with him but I don’t have the nerve to ask because I know he will just lie. Ollie wakes up around 7:30 every morning so I do my best to be up showered and dressed by 7:00 it took a while to get use to this but it has became such a good routine for us. I’m preparing his breakfast and us a picnic lunch when he walks in the kitchen for breakfast. He is only 2 but he wakes up and will always get out of bed to find me in the kitchen. I bend down to hug him and see if he needs to potty. I turn the stove off and we go to start getting little Ollie ready for the day. We have planned to meet my sister and her 2 kids at the park a couple of miles from where we live. At the park I begin unloading Ollie just as Hannah pulls in. We decide to sit on a bench beside the playground and let our kids run and play while we talk Hannah’s oldest Sara which is 7 will help Ollie on the slide and swings like she always does. We sit on the park bench and immediately Hannah can tell something is off. “Iz what’s bothering you I can tell something big is on your mind” she has never had issues with saying what’s on her mind. “I just think something is going on with Liam he has been distant and like he don’t want to be around me anymore.” It’s always best to just come straight out and tell her or else she will just keep asking. We continue talking about what’s going on and I explain more in detail why I think something is happening. While we are talking I notice the kids are moving from the slides to the swings they are all 3 laughing and having a ball being together. After we have our picnic we pack up so I can take Ollie back home for his nap. Something Hannah said has been heavy in my mind. She told me that I needed to talk to Liam and let him know my concerns and I already knew this I’m just not sure how. I’ve just got Ollie put down for his nap when I decided maybe just text him and make sure he is okay and that he isn’t going through anything on his own. He likes to hold himself back and pull away when he has something heavy on his mind.
