Lana stared at the machine. It had never said that before. She slowly stepped backwards. Her heart was thumping in her chest. The thought that she had missed her cycle crossed her mind repeatedly. She took such short breaths she was sure she was about to lose consciousness.
"Mered! Help me!" She called out for help.
Mered stormed into Lana's room. Lana could see her lips moving but she was muted. Darkness surrounded Mered's body. HAI sounded an alarm throughout the manor and stated that an ambulance was on route. Lana closed her eyes while the beating of her heart thumped loudly in her ears.
When Lana opened her eyes, 2 days had passed. There was no one standing at her bedside to assure her everything would be alright. No one cared that she felt like she was dying.
