Alpha Drake POV
Once Jared and Erik left me alone in Isabella’s room, I started to search the entire floor for her. Her scent wasn’t fresh anywhere, so I realized she must have left even though she was only wearing panties and a tank top.
I immediately thought of Clair. Who would Isabella run to if she was in trouble? Her best friend, of course.
I made my way down to my office and mind-linked Clair to come and see me.
After several minutes, I heard footsteps approaching outside my office door. I could pick up Clair’s scent, but she wasn’t knocking. She was just standing outside the door.
Once I finally called her in, she looked scared. I was going to use that to my advantage. I figured if she tried to lie or mislead me, I would be able to read her expressions.
