Chapter 3

1993 Words
On my way to Dad's office, I stopped by the training grounds. My brother, Leonardo was there, sparring with some of the pack members. He looked up and saw me, stopping mid-swing. "Hey, sis," he said. "What's up?" I smiled. "Not much," I said. "Just stopping by to see how you're doing." "I'm doing well," he said, wiping the sweat from his brow. "What about you? How's everything with school?" "It's good," I said. "I have to ask," Leonardo said, leaning in close. "Did Mom tell you anything about the family meeting tonight?" I raised an eyebrow. "Family meeting?" I asked. "No, she didn't mention anything about that." Leonardo sighed. "You know how Mom is," he said. "She likes to keep things close hidden. But I'll fill you in later, after we talk to Dad." "Sounds good," I said. "Do you know what the meeting's about?" Jason shook his head. "No idea," he said. "But whatever it is, I'm sure it's important,"Leonardo said. "Dad doesn't call meetings like this often." I nodded, feeling a little nervous. "Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough," I said. Just then, we heard the sound of footsteps coming down the hall. We turned and saw Dad approaching. He looked serious, his face set in a hard line. "Come on," he said, motioning for us to follow him. I swallowed hard, not sure what to expect. "Sure, Dad," I said. We walked towards the Car park,I got into the front sit, Dad got in all set to leave. Leo already told Dad he would catch up with us in the Location. I still don't know where. Jason was my brother's best friend, and he was like a second brother to me. He was always there for us, and we loved him like family. He climbed into the backseat of the car, giving me a big grin. "Hey, Sel," he said. "How's it going?" "Pretty good," I said, mustering up a smile. "What about you? How's school?" Jason shrugged. "It's going," he said. "I'm mostly just counting down the days until summer break." I laughed. "I hear that," I said. Then,he climbed back down laughing " just wanted to say 'Hello' to you. I will be coming with Leo", "alright then, see ya" I waved him and off we go. An hour passed without a word spoken. The only sound was the sound of the car horns and the sound of our breaths filling the space. Suddenly, I felt the need to speak. "Uhmm, Dad, where are we going?" I asked. "Selena, please be quiet..." Dad started, but he was interrupted by a furry black-colored blur crossing the road. He slammed on the brakes and my phone flew to the dashboard, and my purse spilled onto the carpet. "Selena, please be quiet and stop asking questions," he said. "I'm sorry, Dad," I said, disappointed by his answer. I turned to look out the window, mesmerized by the beauty of nature around us. But then, I felt a strange feeling deep inside me. Sometimes, I get nightmares, but Mom always tells me that everything will be okay. I don't know why, but I feel like something is going on that I don't know about. I'm not sure why I'm so nervous. Am I just imagining it? I wonder if this is normal or not. "And we are here" I heard Dad say, sadness obvious in his features. I nodded and stepped out of the car gloomily. It's a coven, a coven?? like a witch's coven? What on earth are we doing here? My subconscious kept screaming in my head. He stepped out of the car with me trailing behind him closely. I sighted a young girl my age putting clothes out in the sun, our eyes met and she smiled at me, I waved back. We walked up to the door which I suppose is the one we are looking for. Then came a voice, "Well, well, well who do we have here? It's been ages since we last met" A woman said from her window." Amelia ,May i? " he said, gesturing towards the door ." who is this beautiful dear child beside you? Come on in,child",this is Selena, Amelia" Dad said not making eye contact with her. "Come in, come in," Amelia said, smiling warmly at me. I stepped into the house, feeling a little bit more at ease. "How lovely to meet you, Selena," Amelia said. "I'm so happy that you and your father could join us today." "Thank you for having us," Dad said. "It's good to see you again, Amelia." Amelia looked at Dad, a smile on her face. "It's been far too long, Alexander," she said. "And I'm so happy that you brought Selena. "There's someone else here who is excited to meet you, too," Amelia said, motioning to the stairs. A girl my age appeared on the stairs, dressed in a black hooded cloak. She had bright red hair and piercing green eyes. "This is my daughter, Astrid," Amelia said. "Astrid, this is Alexander and his daughter, Selena." Astrid smiled and extended her hand to me. "Welcome, Selena. It's great to meet you," she said. I shook her hand, feeling a little bit in awe of her. "Let's go to the kitchen," Amelia said, leading us through the house. As we walked, I noticed that the house was filled with strange objects and symbols that I didn't recognize. "I've prepared some snacks for you," Amelia said as we entered the kitchen. The kitchen was just as strange as the rest of the house, with strange herbs and potions on the counter. "Please, have a seat," Amelia said, gesturing to the table. I sat down, feeling a bit nervous. "So, what can I do for you?" Amelia asked, looking at Dad. Dad took a deep breath. "You know why I'm here, Amelia," Dad said. "It's about the prophecy." Amelia's face grew serious. "I do know about the prophecy, Alexander," she said. "And I know what you're asking of me. But it's a great risk." "I know it's a risk," Dad said. "But it's the only way to save Selena." I looked at Dad, not sure what he was talking about. "Save me?" I asked. "What's going on?" Dad looked at me, his eyes full of concern. "There's something you need to know, Selena," Dad said, his voice shaking slightly. "It's not easy to tell you this, but it's important that you know." He took a deep breath. "You're not just a normal girl. You have special powers, powers that are unique to you. And these powers are what put you in danger." I sat there in silence, not sure what to say. "What kind of powers?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. "Amelia" Dad said, his voice soft. "There is a guardian that has been with me for years, your guardian, watching over you. He would be honored to see you and show you everything about who you are,it's not in our place to say".she says I felt like I had been punched in the gut. A guardian? Me, with special powers? It was all too much to take in. I looked at Dad, my eyes wide. "How do you know all of this?" I asked. "I have my ways," Dad said, his voice cryptic. "Just know that what I'm telling you is the truth. And that's why I called this meeting - to explain everything to you and help you understand." "But how do I have powers?" I asked. "I'm just a regular girl." "You may think that, but you're not," Dad said. "You're special, unique. Your powers are tied to the moon, to nature, to the earth itself. They're a part of who you are." "I don't understand," I said, my head spinning. "How is that possible?" "It's hard to explain," Dad said. "But just know that you're safe here, with us. We'll help you understand your powers, and we'll help you use them for good". "But Dad," I said, my voice wavering. "What if I don't want to have these powers? What if I just want to be normal?" Dad looked at me, his eyes full of compassion. "I understand that this is a lot to take in," he said. "But I think, deep down, you know that you're not meant to be 'normal'. You're meant for something bigger, something more." I felt a lump in my throat, unsure of what to say. "What if I'm not ready for all of this?" I asked, my voice small. "It's okay to be scared," Dad said. "It's okay to be unsure. But you're not alone in this. I'm here for you, Selena. We all are." Your Mom, Leonardo, and the rest of the pack. "We're your pack, and we'll be there to support you, no matter what." I was just numb. " I need to go out"I say. "I hear you, and I know this is a lot to take in," Dad said. "I want to give you some space to process all of this, but just know that we're here for you when you're ready." I nodded, not sure what to say. I turned and walked out of the room, feeling overwhelmed and lost. I wanted to run, to escape the feelings of confusion and fear that were swirling inside me. I just wanted to be free, to not have to think about any of this. I just wanted to be me, to be normal. As I walked down the hall, my mind raced. I thought about everything Dad had said, everything that had happened in the past few hours. I felt like my whole world had been turned upside down, and I didn't know how to handle it. I walked out of the building and into the fresh air, taking a deep breath. The sun was shining, and the sky was a brilliant blue. I looked up at the clouds, trying to clear my mind. I start to walk, then jog a bit, I started running not knowing where I was going. I just wanted to escape, to get away from everything. I stopped running, taking a moment to look around. I heard a twig snap behind me and turned to see that I was surrounded by rogues. My heart began to pound, my breathing quickened, and my hands shook. I was frozen in terror, unable to move. I closed my eyes, willing myself to disappear, willing the wolves to go away. When I opened my eyes again, I was shocked to see the wolves lying lifeless on the ground in front of me. How had this happened? What had just occurred? Suddenly, a warm hand rested on my shoulder, and I turned to see a familiar face - a man with kind eyes and a gentle smile. "It's okay," he said softly. "You're safe now." I blinked, not understanding what was happening. I looked around, taking in my surroundings. The sun was still shining, the sky was still blue, but the wolves were nowhere to be seen. I looked back at the man, feeling utterly confused. "Who are you?" I asked. He gave me a small smile. "Mate!" he said. "Mate?" I say feeling blush crept up my chin. "I will come back for you" he said shifting into his huge dark Wolf and running away. I stood there, in a daze, wondering if what I had just seen was real. A mate? But I had no idea who this man was, or how he knew me. And what did he mean when he said he would come back for me? I felt a sense of dread in the pit of my stomach, unsure of what to do next. I turned and started walking, not knowing where I was going, just wanting to put some distance between me and this strange, surreal moment. I felt lost, disoriented, and completely out of my depth.
