He watched her sleep against his shoulder as they were driven to Carmens house. She told him how her morning sickness had been particularly traumatic, as had the tiredness. Stroking her hair, he relished the closeness, the feel of her bare arms against his skin, the scent of her hair, the sounds she made as she slept. He took off his jacket as she shivered in her sleep, and slung it over her as a make shift blanket. He would be there in whatever way she needed him, for the duration of the nine months and for the rest of his life. The thought of her carrying his child within her was so overwhelming that he wanted to thank her in some way. For believing in him, for trusting in him, for giving him a renewed sense of purpose. A renewed sense of life, and family. He rested his hand against her
