A nerve ticked like a pulsing blood vein at the side of his mouth. It took an enormous amount of self-control not to snap or bite Enock’s head off. In fact, it took a mammoth effort to just look at the man. Christopher inhaled and exhaled through his teeth a few times. The breathing exercise did nothing to cool him down. He dared to look at the rest of the people in the living room and gauge their reaction to Enock’s answer. Hana could barely lift her head and look at him, as though finally too ashamed of her son’s actions to face the one she had abandoned. That was a welcome development. He was beginning to think the woman was as blind as a bat and deaf as a doornail, where her Enock was concerned. Jane continued to glare daggers and spears at Enock with her arms folded over her chest
